Game 7: Flyers at Devils; 1/26/21 @ 7, CSP

Hello:

The Flyers are a surprisingly heavy favorite:

https://www.broadstreethockey.com/2021/1/24/22246500/nhl-philadelphia-six-stats-from-the-flyers-pair-of-losses-to-the-boston-bruins-carter-hart-analysis

This is a matchup of our offense versus their defense.  Our PP is better than NJ, but their penalty kill tops ours.  It looks like Moose versus Wedgewood. Ghost may be available; Coots isn't.

Let's hope they shake off the Boston debacle.

Defense is a mess.  Ghost can play but might not be game ready.  Even if he's 80% it's still the best option for Ivan's partner.

This is a statement game for them.  I expect them to get a convincing win.  5-1 Flyers (EN goal)

Still waiting on Braun, Gus and Hagg to be game ready.

Can we expect it anytime this year that they will be? Asking for a friend.

I will be out with the family tonight sushi night....

...guess we'll see how they measure up.

Battle of the backup goalies.

Oh i somehow overlooked Ghost back in good.

I don't think Sanheim is a good partner for Ivan.

Sanheim is at best a #4 D man. He and Friedman should be a better pair.

And Gus making popcorn as the Swedish Mcdud sounds about right.

I really hope Ivan and Ghost find their chemistry from 2017-18.

If they could man it would be a huge boost to the team.

I know i know it's asking a lot...fingers crossed.

Moose has been great in his limited action this year. If the Flyers should win tonight I think he deserves a couple more games. Points are even more important in this shortened season. Let Hart have a couple of games to reset mentality.

"in his limited action" being the operative phrase.

That's EXACTLY where he needs to be playing. Start playing him too much because he is great in his "limited action" and you are asking him to get exposed all over again.
Hart is still the guy.

Problem is the defense needs to play better in front of the goalie.
Hart can reset mentally all he wants, but if his defense is going to play like soft cheese, then it won't matter.

In any scenario, I'd trust Hart to stand on his head and bail out a porous defense than I would Elliot.

@TropicalFruitGirl26 I don’t disagree at all. Just saying I don’t want Hart permanently scared from getting shelled every night because of s**t d-men and lazy forwards.

I think because Hart can stand on his head the team plays looser in front of him because they have him in net. Team just plays different when Moose is in net.

Yea, I know.
You never want to have your young goalie shell shocked, but that's where the team leadership needs to get together and DECIDE they aren't gonna leave their young goalie hung out to dry.

Trying to 'hide away' Hart from adversity isn't the way to go either.

If Elliot can play well when called upon, fantastic, then he is doing his job, and if the team plays differently, for whatever reason, with Elliot in net, and give him a better chance to win, then maybe they need to rethink and give that same treatment to Hart, especially if its the skaters that are making things more difficult on him than the opposition is.

Just got home and missed the whole game at least they won.

And JVR decided to score twice wow (PPGs). Ghost +2 in his first game of the year. NOICE!!!!

And Nolan and Goal Farabee joining in even better. Moose get his second win in as many games despite a 885% i'll take it i guess.

Can't comment on anything that took place nice to see them beat the teams they are suppose to beat.

Now concentrate on the top tier teams. Braun the only one to finish -2 color me surprised.

Get well Myers and then we can scratch his ass too.

Goodnight all get ready for the rematch.....

What damn i hate i missed this...

AV on what he saw from The Captain tonight: “I thought G competed real hard. He set the tone. That’s the type of work ethic we need…We battled and found a way to get the job done. For our group that’s a positive sign.”

...is it true or is he just pumping G up???

Hell yeah i bet after playing with Hagg and Braun he damn sure prefers to play with the best defenseman on the roster.

We won because the Flyers realized it's hard work to lose every game in a season.

Well i wish they would play hard for the best goalie i've ever seen in Philly.

Hopefully they don't ruin him.
