RonJeremy
This is the start of a new era. Flyers start season 2-0 and shutout the Devils and get superior goaltending.

Howie58
Good effort! Hart was remarkable, and Hayes is impressive. The penalty kill actually worked. They worked hard. Will they keep it going? NJ may not be a hard test. But there seems to be an intensity level several notches over prior editions.

flyercanuck
Nice to see Simmonds get the standing O....they can boo him next game. Also nice to see the two guys who got paid (less than Hayes) leading the team in scoring. And Hart continuing his fine form. It was only the Devils, but Hak would have found a way to lose. Still undefeated baby!

OccamsRazor
I think if Elliott was in goal last night they lose this one and get behind early. To bad Sandstrom is in the ECHL and not fast tracking to spell Elliott at a moments notice....i'm afraid he is the only one who can really replace Elliott when he goes yanked or goes down. I'm afraid Lyon or Berube is just another deck chair. Youngest Flyers to ever get a shutout (1 of only 2 in the NHL so far this year). 946% and a 1.50 gaa is off to a nice start. Canucks are the next test. Edited October 10, 2019 by OccamsRazor
Popular Post flyerrod
Quote Just absolute WOW on Carter Hart's performance. What a difference it makes when you have a goalie who actually stops the puck. Kudos to the PP too. They had a lot of attack zone time and it looks like they are going to be dangerous. NJ goalie kept this a game with some amazing stops himself. I almost forgot what it was like to watch an exciting hockey game. Welcome back Flyers!!!
radoran
Carter Hart first goalie 21 or younger to win each of his team's first two games in a season since... Steve Mason. So, you know, we've got that going for us...

Tied with Thibault, IIRC.
Popular Post brelic
Well, that was one helluva hockey game. - That 2nd period was probably the most organized and dominant stretch of hockey I've seen the Flyers play in about a decade. - As brilliant as Hart was, last night really was a complete team effort. Special teams, all lines and defense pairs. They seem to just control play at will. The 1st period was more even - probably a bit of rust, nerves, and just a feeling out process. After that it was all Philly. - Hughes is already impressive even if he is still quite raw. You can see the vision. On the other hand, did Hischier even play? I honestly did not see him, nor did I hear his name. - Lovin' the Lindblom/Coots/TK line. Man, they are so strong on the puck. - Hayes is a difference maker. Superb acquisition by Fletch. He's noticeable every time he's out there. - G's line will get going eventually, and when they do, watch out. - Bobby Mac talking about a team "that first needs to move out some salary or a roster player" looking at getting Brian Boyle. Hope it's not the Flyers for several reasons, but mostly because that would signal that Patrick is pretty much out for the year. GO FLYERS!

I dont see any retaliation by our soft team. Just a matter of time before Morin is on the lineup. Probaly after our guys take a few beatings from some goon. Bro, I think you're going to have to get used to this. Seems to me, the AV brand of "compete" means to win the puck, I don't think he gives a 2 hoots about the rough stuff. If the team wins IDGAF about the goon business either, win the puck, win using pressure everywhere, win with skating. This is where the league has been going, there can still be toughness in that game, look at all the goons St Louis dresses.... I think that's where the Flyers are headed, I won't mind it if they win. I don't think this team is easy to play against and that suits me just fine.

brelic
Gritty is a stroke of genius. I imagine it must have been a hard sell and taken someone who just truly truly believed that it was the right approach for a mascot. Nailed it.
