Howie58
Greetings: Well, we start the season as mild underdogs. https://winnersandwhiners.com/games/nhl/10-4-2019/chicago-blackhawks-vs-philadelphia-flyers-prediction-6057/ This is a matchup of two squads trying to improve performance with new coaches and players, but retaining a core of players at mid-career or later. Maybe our newcomers make a big difference. Let's go Flyers!
TropicalFruitGirl26
Hang on to your skates, guys... Given how Chicago seems to have gone "all in" on offense the last couple seasons, the Flyers look better on the attack than they do on the defensive with their group (at least on paper)….AND early season games are usually dominated by the scorers than the defenders.... Game could turn into a high powered offensive affair! Sounds exciting.... round and round they go.....and a combined 9 or 10 goals later....who gets the last laugh? Toews, Kane, DeBrincat, Keith? Or Giroux, JVR, TK, and Provorov? Those 8 could feature mightily on the scoreboard!

brelic
Interesting lineup choice from AV. 4-2 Flyers. G, Coots, JVR, and Hayes. Voracek with 3 assists.
MaineFlyFan
Look at that top line!.....(way to spread out the talent AV!) **** yeah Carter Hart to start!
Digityman
JVR is going to be tired on the power play..... I actually like the first two lines except JVR and Lindblom should be switched and probably will be at some point. That third line is still not much better than last years unfortunately with Patrick being out. Flyers lose 5-2 and people lose their minds. I'm assuming it's TK? 10 minutes ago, Digityman said: That third line is still not much better than last years unfortunately with Patrick being out. Yeah, both Laughton and Twarynski are probably playing above the ideal, but there's not much of a choice right now. I like Laughton as a winger on the 3rd line when he has to step up, but we're short on centers. Honestly, I'm surprised that Pitlick is not above Twarynski if only because of his NHL experience, but it might be because he's just fresh off an injury. Depending on how we fare in the first 5-6 games, we'll probably see Frost or Farabee or both by the Dallas (19/10) or Vegas (21/10) games. And we should know by next Wednesday's home opener if Patrick is going on LTIR or not.

vis
I have a fear that Jake is going to be trying to do too much out there. Let's hope it has more positive than negative effects. Flyers 3, Hawks 1. Carter Hart steals the game. V with a goal and assist. Hayes with an ENG.

OccamsRazor
Like AV said get pucks on net and see what happens... ...if that isn't getting the bounce then nothing is. I'll take it. 2-1 Flyers
OccamsRazor
Hard to stop this one...if not for the toe save by Crawford on the shot earlier TK would have a hatty.
OccamsRazor
Flyers start with a win. Not the best game by any stretch. Lack much physicality. Carter Hart on pace to win 82 games this year!
OccamsRazor
Flyere owned the Black Hawks in faceoffs. 62% But only 16 hits through 3 periods.
