canoli
I all for drafting and developing, but at some point you have to trade for a winger to complement their 16.5 mm dollar first line. yes but not anytime soon, not this year. There is no upside to making moves like that this year - getting someone good enough to skate 1LW. Also the fact is nobody is a definite fit with G/J. It'll be risky giving up prospects to land a top-line winger - and let's face it any team dangling a top-line winger will want / need big-name prospects in return. Sure there will be FAs available...the Flyers won't be able to afford them anytime soon (cap-wise). Give Hex / Hak enough time and the albatross salaries will eventually disappear. Then Hextall will be able to make some moves that'll impact the club. For this year and next look for minor tweaks, depth players coming / going and getting the most out of our draft position. ratskull
Sam Hinkie.... the king of acquiring picks and never successfully putting a good team on the court. I'm glad you clarified that. I didn't know who the hell he was.
OccamsRazor
With that said these are just observations... maybe there is a grand plan and Jake returns to that elite form. Maybe Couts becomes a 20-25 goal scorer and can play the 2nd line C position well. Maybe the defense will ... well, we still have a shitty d no matter what.
