Seriously. He's not making NHL money in an entry level position anywhere. And, who says he can't go back later?

Vanflyer
Ghost will play with the Phantoms to finish the season then he will be one of the Black Aces to practice with the Flyers. His ELC starts next season Thanks for posting this. Too much was being made out of him not wanting to play for the Flyers. I think it was a euphoric slip and not what he intended to say. The philly audience gasped at his play and I am sure the boys upstairs courted him well. Him and Bodie (signed with the Rangers) are both small in stature and will need to beef up a bit before making the jump to the bigs. The fact Ghost is forgoing his education to get his feet wet at the pro level bodes very well for his development. He will get a couple of games in, a rookie camp this summer. What is the black aces again??

OccamsRazor
I'm sure he and Shayne will have something to talk about! Yes i hope they sign their other prospect that played in the frozen four, Micheal Parks( North Dakota) that would be 3 prospects from the frozen four... flyercanuck
@OccamsRazor Damn, I wish I would have known - I'd have paid more attention to him in the game. On a side note, when I first saw their uniforms I thought they were God-awful. But as the game wore on, I kind of liked them in an oldschool way. OccamsRazor
Damn, I wish I would have known - I'd have paid more attention to him in the game He is a grinder/defensive specialist.......would roll out with Coots and Read in the NHL if he was to ever make it. He was put out verse Minny's first line and did an outstanding job shadowing and harassing them hell he would have made the finals if Minny didn't get lucky. Then Flyers would have two prospect going head to head!
radoran
LOVE THIS SIGNING!!!! Very strong signing for the team. Hope that Ghost can truly reach his potential. It'll be interesting to see if he can play his way onto the team next season.
InHexyWeTrust
Not saying he's remotely ready, but is anyone clear on whether he would be eligible to be called up for the playoffs? Would a tryout contract be able to be used for the playoffs, or would that result in burning a year off the ELC?
Vanflyer
Micheal Parks( North Dakota) that would be 3 prospects from the frozen four... Parks will be good for the Phantoms, but don't expect more than that.
flyercanuck
@radoran A year ago I didn't have a lot of confidence in him (without really seeing much other than WJs) When I heard he was getting better defensively I was more optimistic, but still concerned with his size. I can't say I'm thrilled with his God-given physique, but the way he played in the game on the weekend has me thrilled with his potential. He's a very talented player and he plays the game with a lot of balls. I still hope he eventually ends up close to 190, but even if he doesn't that is one heck of a hockey player. Vanflyer
but is anyone clear on whether he would be eligible to be called up for the playoffs? There is a funky rule where he needed to sign an ELC with the Flyers by x date in March (which did not happen), so no, he is not eligible for the NHL this year. I think it has to do with poaching (similar to juniors). NHL teams can not try and load up on "stud" NCAA players while said players are still playing for their schools. I saw a lot of him in the NCAA tourney game against Vermont and he was always positionally sound and defensively responsible. He was the guy who would be pushing the offensive play and the guy who was back on D when the camera was panning back and you were thinking "Is ANYONE back there!?!?" I really didn't see any way he benefitted by not signing the deal - the chance of Byron Evansing himself was far too high.
