Maybe, just maybe, a young kid with a wealth of talent was given to much too fast and allowed his ego to replace the hunger he once had to be a good player. Perhaps a large contract coupled with a flailing team and disfunctional management team, specifically the now fired head coach, has made it worse.

 

Agreed.   That was (kind of) one of my initial offerings regarding the contract.   What made me hesitate in blaming it solely on the contract was that he sucked last year--before he signed it.   But yes, too much too fast:   accolades, captain, money, etc.   

 

I'm trying to come up with something, anything, other than that, but you pretty much nail it, I think.
