So, they buy him out, escape the LARGE and LONG cap hits, but get him back the following year, but this time his cap hit is 3 mill less. Since we already know Vinnie is highly thought of by Stevie through the struck down TO deal, this would make sense. Maybe future considerations are involved with Homer getting more back in a future deal for the one year "rental". I've seen weirder scenarios.
