They both are average defenders but Streit is better on offense
LegionOfDoom
Streit was a Captain, he knows what he's doing when he has the puck. He seems to know when to hold them, knows when to fold emI'm hoping Mason and Streit will be our 1-2 Punch to kick start our transition to get the puck out of our zone, and with Gus in there as well, we should not have as much aweful turnovers in our own zone that lead to so many goals that gave Bryz nightmares. The jury will be out in regards to Streit vs. Carle and the wacky turnover machine. We will see. Carle has the advantage of youth right now, Streit has the specialist skill set more honed. The main problem was team D. we fix that and we can be contenders. Our youth need to learn resiliancy, that was one thing we had during the Richards era, we as a team believed and KNEW we could come back and win it, our team now doesn't know that language. Hopefully we will learn to speak of these things this year.(Though that was our problems before a majority of times "hitting the switch" BS that got us into trouble)
TedZep
"Flyers balked at Carle's price last summer."And then bemoaned the lack of a puck moving defenseman.Call me an agist, I'd go with youth over geezers with similar skill sets anytime. The over 35 contract situation is the real bite in the ass.
Podein25
Streit is cheaper by $250,000. With that extra they can sign ME. I can take face-offs and can bake a tasty cake.

Polaris922
@doom88When Holmgren let Carle walk I was one of the ones saying he was a fool for doing so. No sarcasm as a lot of people here knew it would hurt your transition game. Problem you have now though is four years in a 35+ player instead of molding the much younger Carle. Carle > Streit
doom88
I agree entirely. I thought they should have signed Carle over Suter. I was one of the few Carle supporters.
flyercanuck
@doom88Carle > Streit Streit might be better next year. He may even be the one after that. But 3 or 4 years from now I'm betting he really starts to suck.
Polaris922
Streit might be better next year. He may even be the one after that. But 3 or 4 years from now I'm betting he really starts to suck.I just think they're two very comparable players, and Carle is better simply because he's much younger. No over 35+ contract problems, he'll last longer, and he was already in your organization and could be molded to be what your team wanted him to be. flyercanuck
@Polaris922 Oh he's younger alright. I'd prefer Streit if I was "going for it" . And I imagine that's what Holmgrens thinking is (when isn't it?) But for 4 years? Plain stupid.
DaGreatGazoo
There is an old country song, by Keith Whitley, with a lyric that goes, " You say it best, when you say nothing at all." That pretty much sums up how I feel about Servalli. He's best words are when he isn't saying/typing or writing ANYTHING Flyers related.
