jammer2
@canoli Perhaps our goaltending sucks so bad it is horrific from the start and can never recover. Bryz's injury returns, we go with Leigts full time, he sucks donkey balls and WHAM...Nathan McKinnon is ours!!!
radoran
probably not. But if they decide to play a 48-game season then hopefully they'd have the sense to limit the PO teams to 4 from each conference. I mean really, 16 teams to start the playoffs, after an abbreviated season of 48 games? makes no sense. The post-season would last longer than the season for crying out loud - well, almost.[edit: ah never mind. At least with the usual 16 teams we'd have a good bit of hockey for 6 months. So fine, keep it the way it is. I've just never been a fan of 1/2 the teams making the POs that's all.]They played 48 games in 1994-5 and still had 16 (of 26) teams in the playoffs.Bettman believes that a 48 game season preserves the integrity of the game. Why they need the other 34 games the rest of the time is unclear...
flyercanuck
@jammer2 The rest of our team is too good for a MacKinnon pick.

jammer2
@flyercanuck Never know fc, a few key injuires, an extended goalie slump (or two or three...ha ha!), some bad momentum etc....just never know how a shortened season can implode. This is the perfect spot for a talented team like the Flyers to fall out contention early and change the direction of the franchise with a top 5 pick....stranger things have happened. Maybe we finish bottom 5 and win the lottery, Lord knows, we are owed a few breaks.
Vanflyer
Why they need the other 34 games the rest of the time is unclear...So they can generate 3B+ in revenue of course!
flyercanuck
@jammer2 We all know what would happen if Philly won the lottery...they'd just throw the ball back in the machine and draw again.

flyercanuck
@Vanflyer ...and the teams with a chance at the top pick are...Philadelphia, Columbus, Toronto and Edmonton. And the winner, and team that will select first overall is.......Pittsburgh!
