Brewin Flames
Gustavsson latest NHL goalie with a goal Wild goaltender is 15th in League history, 10th to shoot and score All Goalie Goals from Billy Smith to Filip Gustavsson ByNHL.com @NHLdotcom October 15, 2024 Filip Gustavsson added his name to the list of goalies who have scored a goal in an NHL game on Tuesday when he shot the puck into an empty net to cap the Minnesota Wild's 4-1 win against the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center. In all, 15 NHL goalies have been credited with a total of 18 goals (16 in the regular season, two in the Stanley Cup Playoffs). Ten (including two by Ron Hextall) were scored by a goalie who shot the puck into an empty net, the others came when the goalie was credited with the goal by being the last player on his team to touch the puck before a member of the opposing team accidentally put it into his own net. Here's a look at all 18: Gustavsson gloved down a slap shot from the neutral zone from Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich. He then immediately put the puck down at his stick, dropped to a knee, and sent a shot through the air all the way into the offensive zone, where it rolled into the net with nine seconds remaining in the third period. Gustavsson also made 27 saves in the win. MIN@STL: Gustavsson launches the puck for first goalie goal of the season

CreaseAndAssist
It was an unexpected treat for a goaltender who was a bit on edge prior to the start of this season with trade rumors swirling about him as the team wants to get Jesper Wallstedt some starts. In all honesty, it was icing on the cake after a tremendous start where he really helped shut down the Blues.

Alexandron
Interesting, he did exactly the same way as our other goalie from Sweden Wallstedt did it in AHL two seasons ago for the Iowa Wild team. I will be very happy if we will continue this Swedish tradition persistently/ all the time for the big club. Maybe this will become our team's trend mark? Confrontational
Surprised it doesn't happen a little more often - or at least tried a little more...

The only reason he tried it was that the Wild had a two goal lead. They wouldn't have done it it was only a one goal lead. Because if Gustavsson missed the net, it would have resulted in an icing, with the resulting faceoff being in the Wild's zone and the Wild not allowed a line change. Jimtown guy
”Flower looked up to the board and was like, ’We’re up two goals. You should probably try it if you get the chance. You’re shooting, right?’” Gustavsson said. ”I was like, ‘Yeah, maybe I should.’” https://www.thehockeybeast.com/nhl/marc-andre-fleurys-words-just-before-gustavssons-goal-revealed/
