The NHL Rewind
This list takes into account their performance last year, coupled with the progression/regression that I expect to see them display in the 2024-25 season. Whether this be due to age, new teammates, or new look behind the bench, this is the order of players I would want on my team for this next season. McDavid MacKinnon Matthews Draisaitl Crosby Barkov Jack Hughes Brayden Point JT Miller Connor Bedard Sebastian Aho Jack Eichel Robert Thomas Elias Petterson Matt Barzal HM: Vincent Trocheck, Mika Zibanejad, Tage Thompson & Nico Hischier
thegx.ca
Yeah your top 5 can't be argued I think but after that they all too close to call in my opinion though I think Eichel and Bedard should be higher and older guys like Miller and Barkov should be lower than Petterson and I'd take Point before Hughs too... thegx.ca
Also I don't thunk Barzal should be that high either...

I'll take Barkov over even Matthews every day of the week (Even if you prorate), but I'm good keeping him where he is. . I agree on Barzal. I put Zibanejad above him. And definitely on Point vs. Hughes. Otherwise decent list with your edits.

Wow...I mean yeah Matthews hasn't won a cup but just on age alone I couldn't take Barky over The Stash...only 2 years difference but considering injury history into it all too the 2 years age difference is more significant... Since this was set up as "want on my team for this next season," age really isn't an ingredient for me. Barkov is just a better 200' player and a better leader. But even without that framing, I mean, it's 28 years old to 26, so I'm not sure age is actually a factor in any measure (it isn't for me, anyway. YMMV). I get the debate, but I'll take Barkov every time (unless I'm drafting for an offense-heavy fantasy league). I like Barkov alot too so I see your point...but still even for one season I gotta take my chances with the younger guy who produces more points even though he doesn't have a Cup yet...besides the top 5 has Crosby so he'd be Captain in this fantasy thread/team
