Howie58
Greetings: The O and B are favored (-155): https://sportsbookwire.usatoday.com/article/philadelphia-flyers-vs-montreal-canadiens-odds-tips-and-betting-trends-4/ This is a matchup between two teams with poor power plays; the Habs are marginally better on offense, and we have an edge on defense. https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/mtl-vs-phi/2024/03/28/2023021152 We won 3-2 in a shootout despite Cayden Primeau's 37 stop performance. This is the second of three matches this season. We need the points. Edited March 28 by Howie58
Howie58
Greetings: Here is Bill Meltzer's take on the lineup. It is Rangers Redux--Seeler and Drysdale are close but no cigar: https://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Bill-Meltzer/Flyers-Gameday-32824--MTL/45/124786

Being the favorite scares me; I'd rather they feel like Avis and have to try harder (I age myself). Montreal is tough for us given their speed. ctid
Yup. I'm with you. Tonight is a true test, well every remaining game night is. But tonight is the first time the Flyers are favorites after the stretch they just had. Looking forward to the game. I wonder if Drysdale gets to dress before seasons end? AlaskaFlyerFan
Flyers had a good first few minutes in the 1st but then the Habs took over. They need to play a whole lot better than that for the rest of the game.
Samifan
I did not have Ryan Poehling being the Flyers #1 Center on my 2023-24 Flyers Bingo card.

GratefulFlyers
Well that was one of the worst periods the Flyers have played all year. PK still struggling gives up the first goal...Standing around, letting the Habs just run through them...2-0... now another penalty ... Attard trips up his man on the wall. Flyers aren't skating - bound to take penalties. edit: 30 minutes into the game Flyers have 7 SOG. But I won't be surprised if they come back to win it ... The Canadiens are hammering us all over the ice and checking tight, we can’t get anything going.

No, Montreal is smothering them and hitting everyone hard. It’s a tremendous checking effort by Montreal, we can’t get any sustained attack and they are winning all the battles. After that high octane game against the Rangers you knew a letdown was coming.

Hoping for a better 3rd. 2nd period was much better with chances but no finish. I am tired of the officials letting the habs start **** and not have to answer for it. The Tippett penalty was ridiculous…..Players need to be able to police themselves at least to some degree.

Howie58
We can't score on PP. We score but they are disallowed. The hockey gods aren't smiling upon us.

I understand the call on the offsides, don’t like it but it was. The kicking in the goal while your are jousting with 2 players was ludicrous. Hathaway apparently is a ballet star with innate balance……
flyerrod
Refs win! Refs win! Sometimes it is just beyond comprehension how they are allowed to make so many calls or noncalls in a game to get their desired outcome. Even Boucher is harping about it and he never complains. Howie58
Tippett breaks the ice. Too little, too late. 0-4 on PP. Ugh!

Howie58
We will look back at this season and point to the PP as the Achilles Heel. Stay keep us out of the playoffs.
OccamsRazor
Did get to watch one second of the game last night got home late from work. Had to spend some time with the family figured they should beat these clowns if anyone wants to take them seriously and well guess they shat the bed. Oh well 8 games left if they can get some help back and relief in net maybe they sqeak in this wasn't encouraging from Danny B though. “Seeler is getting closer. Small chance this weekend, maybe after this weekend. Drysdale is getting better and better, but not as close as Seeler is. Risto in his case we are not sure if he will be able to come back,” said Briere.

I started the thread with my concern about the Flyers as favorite. Psychologically, that gives them license to underperform. That tells me they lack swagger. Attard and Ginning have played well on D. Torts had multiple kudos post-game. Seeler and Drydale are part of the problem. But I think this team has to come out swinging, and they need a better PP. It is a momentum killer that's losing them games.

Well I know generally speaking I am hoping Risto has maybe played his last game as a Flyers. There was rumors about them maybe trying to move him in the offseason weather that is thru the draft or afterwards. Or they pick up salary to move him out I know Danny will do what is best for the team moving forward. And worst case they keep him and try and rebuild his reputation to hard to say at this point. We'll have to wait.
