Howie58
Greetings: Carolina is favored (-222) with a 69% win probability: https://sportsbookwire.usatoday.com/article/carolina-hurricanes-vs-philadelphia-flyers-odds-tips-and-betting-trends-8/ Carolina has won two of three against us this season. They've also won 8 of their last 10. Carolina's PP is near the top of the league, and they average slightly under a half goal per game more offense: https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/car-vs-phi/2024/03/21/2023021099 This is another matchup in which we play "our game" or we get steamrollered.

flyerrod
Hoping they keep Staal making the popcorn. The guy has had a hell of a career but he needs to be the 9th dman not the 7th. 1 1
Samifan
I will be in attendance. If I see Staal on the ice tomorrow night, I will search the entire building for Jones and Briere. Fingers crossed for a competitive game where maybe they can steal 1 point. 1

GratefulFlyers
Tortorella’s probably tempted to ice the same team so what are the odds the captain sits again? The Flyers finally beat Toronto but it cost them something … weird: it turned Couturier into a victim. Any other player gets scratched starts grumbling about “the way I been treated around here lately” I wouldn’t think twice but Sean Couturier? Yeah that was a little weird.
Popular Post flyer4ever
It's only weird because of the albatross ahole contract the chucktard gave him. Not too many pro sports organizations give out 8 year deals to multiple back surgery patients. Then put the C on them. Then bench them. Then go on a playoff drive when you're trying to rebuild. Then trade your best dman for a broken toy and placate the team by trading for your worst dman. As usual, dysfunction in Flyer junction. 3

The best thing Fletcher ever did was screw up the Flyers so bad that they had to rebuild. THAT IS HIS LASTING FLYER LEGACY. 1

Don’t miss the snow and cold of Western NY or Sabres fans That’s exactly how I felt when I left Tonawanda and moved back home to Philly area in 2008 and got my Season Tix. I’m sure I discussed that at length back then on Philly.com Sabres fans were some of the worst and most abusive toward me and the Flyers and I cheered every one of their losses when they lost to Stars in the SCF, Canes in 2006 ECF and Senators in 2007 ECF. They have basically sucked since. Edited March 21 by Poulin20 1 1
Howie58
I agree with Flyerforever. Short-term, this is a locker room/optics issue. Longer-term, the real question is Coots' value to the team if he's a fraction of the former Selke winner. It's interesting to me how the media, traditional and digital, focus on the locker room stuff. Hopefully, we don't have another Vinny on our hands. I have thoroughly enjoyed the demise and dysfunction of the Sabres franchise

Love it here born and raised in this state. Perfect weather. But damn we getting so many yanks moving down here it is crazy so many Buckeye and Wolverine fans live in my subdivision it is crazy. Enjoy your stay I lived in Greensboro from 1997 to November 99. It's where I seen Lindros, LeClair and Coffee play back in the day. Right now it's hard to imagine him playing Selke-candidate hockey ever again but who knows. He missed a lot of time; nobody expected his return would be problem-free. He's obviously dealing with some physical issues and now maybe a "Tortorella issue."

Well why is Couturier scratched? Cause he's struggled or because Torts is pulling another ego move? Because if its because he struggled, why in the F*** is Atkinson (0 G 0 A in last 16 games, yes he missed last game, what took you so long?) playing? Or Deslauriers ( 1 point in last 32 games...Flyers are 4-8 when he fights, and been outscored 45 -27 even strength with him on the ice)? Because they both flat out suck.

I think if he us slotted where he needs to be slotted (3rd line center/4th line center west case) then he could get back close to that. Limited minutes he is not. 20 minute a night forward anymore. 12-14 is where it needs to be kept and he has a chance I think. That is on the coaches to monitor.

And although they don't award the Selke to 12-min guys he doesn't have to win the trophy just play like a contender for it. Hopefully next year he's not only 100% healthy but ready and up to speed for an 82-game schedule, which clearly he wasn't this year.

That Deslauriers point was a GOAL! First one of the year! Game 68 or whatever it was... His fights are likely in games where the Flyers are struggling, already behind the 8-ball not a huge surprise the record is bad. But anyway...I don't get you sometimes. You know the game you know the NHL so why try to sell that because ND rarely puts up points he has zero value? Hey if you're just venting no problem. And that would be understandable coming from someone who hates this entire not-quite-a-rebuild thing the Flyers are doing. edit: of course his contract is too long. A 4-year deal was dumb at the time looking back now just as dumb. Prob the only way to keep the cap hit down but $2.5/2 is better than $1.75 for 4. If Fletcher had to have him that is... Back to benching Couturier, Flyers' fans have been clamoring for years for a HC who holds everyone accountable. Now we got him and it's still no good. It seems to me regardless what you think of Tortorella you have to admit he's pressed most of the right buttons this year. It seems to me regardless what you think of Tortorella you have to admit he's pressed most of the right buttons this year. I love gritty hockey players. Wayne Simmonds/Rick Tocchet types. I like Konecnys style. I can't stand goons. DesLauriers and these clowns that play a few minutes a night just to nod at each other, throw a few punches, then pat each other on the back for keeping each other employed when someone who can actually play some hockey should have that spot...yay! Tortorella would be a good coach for a team like, say, the Toronto Maple Leafs. A team with plenty of talent that always seems to underperform. Give him a couple years there, and maybe they actually accomplish something. But the Flyers badly need an injection of pure talent and to replenish it's farm system. Tortorella is exactly what we don't need at this juncture. Yes, he's getting a team to overachieve. Does that really do us good in the long run? It gets us the kind of draft picks that are never going to put us over the top...more middle 6 and bottom pairing guys. To go with the middle 6 and bottom pairing guys we have. This team needs more Michkov type talent, not more Laughton. And I don't hate Laughton. But more of that is going to keep us right around where we are, and where we've been, give or take a few spots in the standings, for decades. 3
