He's only played 7 seasons so far, with 239 goals. 500 - 239 = 261 goals. He averages 34 goals per season. He has to play 13 more seasons to make it to 20. 13 x 34 = 442 goals. 239 + 442 = 681 goals. I'm starting to think he will actually be the 50th member of the NHL 500+ goals club. No signs of him retiring. No word yet on what will happen to Eric Staal after this season.
