good post. and yes, i was asking you directly, although I appreciate everyone else who answered
So you're not saying Torts will fail because he a bad coach, but becasue the team is just beyond repair
Interesting point. The internet has llowed so much information, it has tainted my like for the team. I liked it better when I neve rknew who the GM was, what teh cap situation was, or who the front office toolbags were....in other words, the 70's and 80's
The Flyers misunderstood this. They thought they needed the players to develop the coach
I guess you could say Lappy is a "development coach", he just won't develop
something to look forward to.
management loves Risto. Why? WTF knows. Torts hate that kind of player. Funny they will hire a guy whos directly opposite of them
2nd winningest American Coach in NH history, 2x Coach of the year, SC champion, 12 playoff appearances in 20 seasons
NHL considers him a good coach. Im sure we forum fans know better though
With TB:
1st year, 5th place
2nd, 3rd place
3rd, 1st place
4th, 1st place, SC
Got better every season leading up to SC. Looks like pure luck to me. Im sure coaching had nothing to do with it
You know, this is really a good point. There isn't a player on the current roster that matters to me. I havent seen enough of the young guys to have an opinion, and all the veterans are only capable of reaching "good" status.
Change is a good thing
NBC sports is reporting that the Flyers are offering Tortis a contract. Im on board with this guy. I dont care about his brash personality. This team needs a foot in the a$$
This is just a hope...A HOPE PEOPLE!.... if they sign a guy with this reputation and style, I hope they keep their noses out of his business and let him do his thing. Im HOPING this is an indication that management is finally going to go in another direction, one that holds players accountable.
Now go out get players who can perform for a coach like this and jettison the wussies....I see you JVR
