  1. This is a very spirited debate. Let me add my two cents (which isn't worth a cent).... they will figure out a way to move Hayes without hamstringing the team. Have faith
  2. We better hurry up and hire Joel Otto before they do
  3. THIS JUST IN! Flyers hire Eric Lindros to be in charge of Sexual Harassment and Family Affairs
  4. Upon retirement, Jake Voracek has been slated to be the Rest and Relaxation Special Director.....JVR will be his special, special ASSistant
  5. rumor has it Andrew MacDonald will be hired to run the defense
  6. So, I talked to a close friend of mine who has long term contacts in the Blackhawks organization, who are close to Sharpe. My friend was told that KJ wanted to bring PS on board right away. Flyer front office had him tap the brakes and wait until the smoke cleared. They were worried about the optics of the ex-flyer connection. Apparently KJ and PS got close through the broadcasting thing I have no.problem really, with hiring one of your boys. I get it. And maybe KJ and PS do a good job. It's the similarity to the past way the Flyers have conducted business that worries me
  7. And where did you get any evidence to indicate this applies to Sharp? As pointed out he wasn't a Flyer for very long. You yourself acknowledge he's a Blackhawk. So what exactly makes him know what it "means" to be a Flyer? You need to be careful with that kool-aid, it can have long term effects More than likely Sharpes buddy KJ floated him a job that will pay him serious bank and he jumped on it. After all, that's what KJ did
  8. because the trade was made to benefit the player, not the Flyers. Clarke took care of a good kid instead of putting the franchise first. Im sure it benefited him personally somehow. This is my problem with this move. Is Patrick Sharpe a worthy candidate for the job, or did the Flyers just do it again? And is this a legit position? .As posted in an article: New general manger Daniel Briere and new president of hockey operations Keith Jones are righting one of the biggest mistakes ever made by this organization. On Tuesday, Sharp, now 41, came back to Philly. He has been hired as a Special Advisor to Hockey Operations. Why does the team need this position filled? Is it even needed at all? I could see if he had been doing something at the management level that was so valuable they had to snag him before some other team did. But he was broadcasting. This smacks of them just taking care of Sharpe....again.
  9. I dont know if it's a good idea or not, but I find your POV confusing. If they aren't going to be good for the "next couple years" (I assume you mean 2), then it sounds smart to do it. How many years will the buy out go? What if they are bad for 3, 4, or even 5 years? They wouldn't need the cap space then either
  10. I'm telling you, BC liked Sharpe and did him a solid. I wouldn't be surprised if it was his way of sticking up Hitch's fat, pimply butthole, since he wouldn't play him more
  11. ahhhh....yes. now that you said that, that's who it was. Patrick Sharpe fit my narrative better.
  12. well thats the big push for today's Flyers....get younger at any cost side note: age is not what has made the bobby-bunch incompetent, but it has exacerbated their inflamed headupassedness
  13. @pilldoc yeah, I may be wrong on the daughter thing. I seem to recall hearing it in a game broadcast. but based on research, it doesn't seem like it fits however, trading away a player you don't want to trade, because he wants to go, based off a small sample size of his performance, doesnt' sound like a good idea. Turns out it wasn't. But it certainly seems like Clarke liked Sharp and did him a favor, at the cost of the team. Now he's back in a senior role. I still think it isn't because the guy has any useful experience, unless broadcasting is key requirement.....oh wait!
  14. this is exactly the point I was trying to make. What you did, or did not do, as a player is insignificant. As I recall, and I may be wrong, but Sharpe was involved in a relationship with Clarke's daughter. Sharp requested a trade from Clarke, and got exactly what he wanted. How often do the Flyers do that? Now, after all these years, reagrdless of qualifications, Sharpe gets a career boost by the Flyers. Who exactly made ths decision? Was it KJ? Did Clarke facilitate it? Of course we don't know, but past history suggests it is possible
  15. Its not where a player played most, or what he accomplished on ice. Its the fact that this franchise continues to hire these people regardless of their experience and or ability to actually do the job. You could be the most qualified applicant out there, and lose out to a guy who is an ex-flyer. Their internal loyalty is commendable, but ineffective. If this franchise's internal career hirings were compared to on ice results, they would have the most championships in sports history
  16. oh, you typed more after "Laughton"? It all went dark for me at that point
  17. So is hiring ex-flyers that are supposably "qualified "
  18. I'm convinced your knowledge of this team begins and ends with Gritty, and the uniform colors
  19. Meet the new boss.....same as the old boss
  20. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Its the Flyer way Nothing has changed
  21. someone just shoot me now. Laughton mentoring young players is like Clarke mentoring Holmgren to be GM as for Camillo, couldn't we have at least gotten Hayes included in the deal
