  1. @Polaris922 Normally the Marines do the Cold Weather gig in Bridgeport Ca, but we were getting ready to deploy, so our regiment commander thought that an equivalent would be Fort Drum in January. Never been so cold in my life.....
  2. @B21 He (Kuato) is still there posting. He is now American Psycho. Silly.com was doomed from the get go. The admin never reigned in the trolls and flame wars would pop up out of nowhere. I'll admit, they were fun at times to read, but in reality, that site was dreadful. Kuato, I truly believe is over here, but posting under a normal-er name. I hold my reservations as to who is Kuato until a later date.
  3. I thought the RFA compensation for his salary hit would be two first rounders a second and a third..... In any case, I wouldn't do it either. The Flyers need to draft and develop defensemen for a change. The only problem I see is that the owner is not that patient and we typically do not pick high enough to land a Webber. I like the idea of having Webber on this team. I think there are fans from 29 other teams that would utter the same thing, but at the end of the day, the package would be so hefty that we'd be lucky to see Giroux on this team next season. Pollie is no dummy, if I were in his shoes, I'd start the asking price for a trade at Claude Giroux. Why not? Rookie talent is great, and upside potential is awesome, but what we are looking at is the centerpiece of a franchise right there. I think had there been some foresight on the Pronger issue, a trade last season would have been made that involved Carter and Richards and a couple of 1st round picks. Webber is that good.
  4. @Polaris922 Fort Drum? I did cold weather training there back in the 90's when I was in the USMC. Sorry didn't mean to change the subject. Rome NY caught my eye though.
  5. @Phillygrump There is a lot of mixed feelings here, so if I were Homer I would lean hard on Pollie and tell him to take something while he still can. My only fear is we will be in the same boat with some of our players in the next few years.
  6. @Irishjim The Schenn bros and a 1st round pick would be pretty fair in my book.
  7. @Irishjim Hi Jim, I'd risk it too. It sounds like no matter what happens, Webber will not sign there long term. He'd get what? Two first round picks, a 2nd and 3rd? Or could just out right trade him? If I were Pollie, I would trad all day long. I'd demand Courts, Luke Schenn and a 1st and a 2nd. If I were Holmgren, I'd do it all day long too. He is that good.
  8. @B21 Plus 1 B21! That made me laugh and cringe at the same time....
  9. Who cares? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Great first post.
  10. This is not exactly the moves I had in mind, but it helps. Fedotenko can fit in the line up well to allow Talbot to move up, I guess.
  11. @doom88 Exactly. I am thinking the Garth Snow approach to goaltending may be in order for my prediction to come true.
  12. @doom88 Figures. Oh well. Maybe a miracle will happen and they make the puck really big, or the shooters really slow.
  13. Well when I first saw the name I immediately thought of Ricky Gervais and I was all like wha...... But then I remember there is yet another D man that can barely scratch the line up in Tampa and is no relation to Ricky. I think we should see where the chips fall and re-assess when we are getting butt-pounded by December. Really starting to re-think the whole Bryzgalov will have 44+ wins this year.
  14. I blame the Aramark concession stand for section 105a. At the end of the day they are always to blame. Later Matt, enjoy Tampa. Time for Lavy to work some magic with the roster he has. I guess this is a true example of developing what you have.
  15. Dallas was the only team that guaranteed him 1st line minutes at the highest price. Remember when the hockey world laughed at Philly sigining a 40 year old 4 years removed Jagr at 3.3mm? I guess Dallas is trying to fill seats. Jagr is all about the money. Dallas won't even sniff the playofffs. If Jagr puts up 40 points this year, I'd be surprised. Don't get me wrong he is a world class talent and I wish him the best in Dallas. I believe that he had an inpact on Giroux and the young guns. I would have loved to see him back for one more year, but not at that price. Good luck JJ. PS Please don't become the Brett Favre of the NHL.
  16. @radoran Justin Halpern is one funny hombre. I read the book S**t my Dad Says. The guys dad is certianly a laugh.
  17. @mojo1917 Agreed with WeBber. Next season Timmo and his 6 million plus cap hit is gone. Also is Hartnell (my guess is they re-sign him though). In any case we will have much more $$ to ink Webber. Carle/Webber Coburn/Mezaros Bourdon/Schenn That would arguably be the best back 6 in the NHL.
  18. Ok, so with all the hard/haro/corsi stats aside (I feel like I need a pHD to even decipher that information); which of the two (Carle/Sutter), or any would you like to see on the Flyers' roster come October. Give a short argument why, completely subjective if you like. I just want to get a pulse on subject here. Me personally, I would take Carle back over Sutter and make a solid effort to get him the most effective defense partner.
  19. @doom88 Sledgehammer was a great show. Stick em' up Homer, give me another NHL contract
  20. @Podein25 This one is just for you lol.
  21. @orange_crush we really need to have a sarcasm font here.... lol This sums up how I really feel: "Breaking: Flyers sign Michael Leighton In a move sure to shake the foundation of the NHL and change the landscape of free agency, the first signing of the day after noon is the Flyers bringing back Michael Leighton, who helped get Philadelphia to within two victories of a Stanley Cup two years ago. Sure, Leighton didn’t play in the NHL last season and toiled in the minors, but it’s news and we need to keep this thing going. Terms of the deal were not immediately available." —
  22. The sequel to Moneyball is Moneypuck..... This just seems like a bad move. Top flight talent is great, but we are already anchored with two terrible contracts. What happens when Giroux needs to get paid? Or Couturier?
  23. @flyercanuck After Bob was traded, I could see this move 1,000 miles away. There is no way Homer was going to sign a goalie that would actually challenge Bryzgalov for the starting position. The real question is which Bryzgalov are we going to get come October?
  24. @orange_crush Didn't we almost win a cup with Leighton and a broken Boucher? Just saying.....
