Calgary was a front runner but now maybe not?  We are not giving Jackie Boy away!!!  Maybe the speedy Ducks now make more sense.  But I still say Eichel is playing with fire having a surgery never done on an NHL player. Wish he would have fusion and play here

I don't think Calgary was ever the frontrunner, but anyways I think Eichel took himself out of any frontrunning by showing up unfit for training camp this year and by his unwillingness to work with his team to find best compromise for all parties involved.

I don't like players that try to have more control than their coaches and general managers and owners etc over their teams, all that selfishness that works in the NBA where one player can make more of a difference than in other team sports, emphasizes selfishness over teamwork.

My opinion aside, I do agree that Eichel has the right not to play if he don't want to - he's not a slave, but I have the right not to like his selfish attitude either and also have the right to be of the option that it's better to have unselfish players than selfish ones like him and Lindros etc.

The way things going, because of Eichel purposely having his agents make media statements that cause his value to drop, Buffalo probably spite him let him sit unpaid until contact ends then just trade him as restricted free agent for whatever they can get - why would any team overpay now that they see what a problem child Eichel is? Since it's a gamble with his injury anyways, trading for him won't immediately help any team, it's take a risk and trade for him and who knows when he'll play if ever of surgery goes bad.

    Games Played on 10/21/21

Flames Milan Lucic vs Wings Givani Smith Winner ?  Lucic

Vancouver Kyle Burroughs vs Hawks Riley Stillman  Winner ?

    LUCIC vs SMITH

Lucic clear winner Smith threw some punches that did no damage and Lucic knocked him down with one shot then held back since Smith had gone down - no one got hurt, Smith wasn't hurt by the shot that knocked him down either.

  4. Calgary with another loss after again dominating the play for vast majority of game, at least we got one point though.

Lucic fought Deslauriers and while no damage done to either, Lucic looked dangerous, I'm disappointed that he didn't get the C or A...

Coleman looked good in his first game and his goal scored was very clutch.

We better best Detroit on Thursday...

  5. Disappointing loss to Edmonton, but from what I saw Calgary played good Sutter hockey dominating physically and controlling most of the even strength play.

Really Edmonton did not have any answer to the size and toughness of Calgary, except to try to avoid confrontations - even Kassian wanted no part of any pushing and shoving, this really is Sutter tough team and week disciplined not taking any bad penalties, even the Rasmussen penalty on Yamamoto was not a bad penalty although it was the turning point score wise.

Overall, I'm happy with what Sutter done to make this team tougher and better overall - I'm very confident Calgary will beat Anaheim on Monday💪👍🔥

  6. Definitely the best choice for Seattle they definitely had this in mind before even talking him from Calgary which also would explain more about why Calgary could not get Seattle to agree to any deals around not taking Giordano(and Calgary would not expose others instead)...still hurts that they got him...honestly as much as I like Rasmussen and Hannafin I'd rather have kept Gio and that's saying alot because Rasmussen and Hannafin are the future of Calgary - I'd rather be a worse team in future but be able to honour our past in the best way and to me that would have been keeping Gio at all costs...Giordano always a Flame 🔥🔥🔥

If this team does not make the post season, i will be beyond sad.

Definitely, but I really think they'll do good, Sutter built the team he wants and this season will show why Sutter hockey still works.

I look at other teams especially Edmonton and I see skilled but weak teams - especially defensively.

Defence for me still wins hockey games, not every team can be Edmonton/Tampa/Colorado - but every team can play better defensively of they choose to, and this is where we should succeed.

Other teams should expect hard fought hard hitting games when they see us, I don't see any team out hitting is this year - so at least there's that💪🔥🍻

  8. Very happy with Calgary winning their last preseason game, seemed like Sutter hockey throughout - Ehlers and Morrissey didn't return from some scrums, so must mean we playing harder than the opposition haha💪.

Overall I think Calgary is noticeably tougher noticeably more of a Sutter team, and that's a good thing - not just by getting Zadorov and Gubrandson, but Lewis Coleman Richardson Pitlik are all creating a tougher team identity that Tkachuk seems to fit in with.

Calgary is definitely one of the tougher teams now, it's not just Lucic - it's Lucic Ritchie Zadorov Gubrandson who can win fights, then the identity toughness of Coleman Tkachuk Richardson Lewis Pitlik Rasmussen Stone Tanev etc even Monahan tougher now with new hip haha and even seen Gaudreau tonight putting his body on opponents just to interrupt plays etc.

Also, I think Markstrom gonna be what we expect of him, he seems to be more focused.

So, very excited for first regular season game against Edmonton, and fully expect Calgary to be fighting to lead our division throughout the year - 🔥🔥🔥 GO FLAMES GO🔥🔥🔥

Thinking about making the trip from Philly to see the Flyers take on the Flames in Calgary later this month. Can anyone recommend the best seating areas in the Saddledome or if there's any sections to avoid due to obstructed views (if any)? For the Flyers fans, are there any specific sections that we tend to sit in? Also open to any hotel/bar/poutine suggestions!

That's awesome if you go it's good atmosphere there👍

If on lower bowl section M is right in the middle which is I think the best since you can see clearly both ends of ice, the rows you can choose as low as ice level right up against the glass or as high as the nosebleeds - like I said before I think section M about 15 rows up is perfect, but if you go higher to second bowl or third I think right at the railing is best since no one in front of you.

There's a restaurant in the Dome too, you could eat while watching of you want, the tables have good high views of entire ice - or you can get there free hours early and eat inside dining area then watch.

As for where to stay, there are hotels very close to Dome, especially in East Village some nice new hotels you can walk to game and it move weather now in Calgary.

Not sure where good to hang out after since just last week you gotta show you are double vaccinated wherever you go - so make sure you bring proof of vaccination with you.

But there lots of cool places downtown especially along Steven Avenue and 17 Avenue SW around 5th to 14 Street can walk to lots of bars - and there a poutine place there on about 7st SW and 17 Ave SW across beside coffee shop called Analog.

It's pretty friendly so don't worry where you sit with your Flyers sweater, usually when people know you traveled so far to get here they'll help show you around.

Lots of craft beer places too if you into that, if you have anymore questions just let me know🍻
