Markstrom with strong game and Calgary being tougher and stronger - could tell no one on Florida wanted to fight Calgary heavyweights they didn't even want to fight Ritchie or Zadorov nevermind Lucic or Gubrandson
Sutter boys getting it done defensively again
-
Haha LOOCH Well even if Calgary lost at least Lucic beat someone up

Yeah, Markstrom bad first goal and bad on breakaway too...
-
Hopefully the 3 day break will help turn Calgary around...
-
Was good effort from Calgary, good game, but just couldn't keep up with Florida tonight...
-
Richie back in tonight against Florida

Panthers Sam Bennett vs Sens Zach Sanford Winner ?
NYR Ryan Reaves vs Avs Kurtis MacDermid Winner ?
Bennett won and dominated, he gets slashed from behind doesn't know who slashed him and jumps Sanford with flurry of solid shots - man wish Bennett was still with Calgary he a Sutter boy for sure
McDermid got takedown and won had better reach but no damage to each.

Stating the obvious of course, but i'd be willing to bet that most guys know they are about to get decked, and turn in the hopes that it will draw a penalty...
I think that's what Demelo was doing here, he certainly got the major penalty and it was the turning point of the game for Winnipeg to win.

This was a rare game where Markstrom was not as good as the opposing goalie...

Watching Calgary each game they really can play with every team they've faced so far, Vegas was their toughest challenge so far - but Calgary was able to pay up to their speed, when Eichel is healthy Vegas is definitely the top team to beat overall.
Even this loss against Carolina wasn't bad despite all the chances Calgary had, it had the feel of a playoff game, as do all the games Calgary had played so far - can truly feel the effort each game that Calgary is really improving into a playoff team - if Calgary can keep up this steady improvement with each game, they will definitely get through a few playoff rounds at least.

I'm biased but I think Sutter and Markstrom will run their respective categories, Sutter style hockey guarantees more shutouts on way too.
McJesus will win Hart, he is finally becoming the captain he should be leading Edmonton to me heights each year, like Crosby did before.
More biased picks, but Coleman and Backlund post against the best lines for Calgary - and the team shutouts and goals against and penalty kill are better because for them.
Ekblad fort Norris.
Ellers for Lady Byng, you can see him always breaking up and showing real concern for anyone hurt or just overall courtesy politeness.
Not sure about others, but those are my biased picks.

Tonights game against Pittsburg, they talked about the hit and that Lucic said to always looks at his targets eyes to check if they know his going at them - he said Demelo locked eyes with him and knew he was going to hit him and chose to duck putting himself in worse position.
During the game they showed replays of Lucic hitting others and letting off when the other didn't see him, then replays of him finishing checks and can tell when he locks eyes with his target.
Lucic said in interview that the hitter has responsibility not to hit player in vulnerable position, but the target also has responsibility not to put himself in worse position at last moment. This does make most sense.

Almost another shutout for Calgary tonight, if not for bad luck deflection.
Sutter boys are getting it done
-
Would love for Calgary to get him, but I wouldn't want to mess with Calgary chemistry right now

Lucic saw him turning left and went for that hit but Demelo cut back right last second and ducked too, so that made the hit worse than if he would have just kept his direction left - wasn't intentional, especially when Demelo can't just keep flinching left/right purposely keeping his back to others and not expect to be hit.

Calgary out played Winnipeg...just couldn't beat Hellabuck after first 2...
-
Back to back shutouts now put Calgary at 7 perfect games in first 19 games, almost half of the games Calgary shutouts their opponents

-
5th perfect game now, and with Nurce injured in Edmonton, time for Calgary to make up ground
