Lightning's biggest challenge in the early season is to develop chemistry with the new faces in the lineup.
The team absolutely did the right thing keeping Ian Cole away from the team with the suspension...... if it turns out he is innocent, so be it, but if not, he certainly is NOT a distraction the team needs.
Over the years, since Jeff Vinik took over the team, the organization has shown zero tolerance for off the ice stupidity and you can bet that if Cole turns up guilty, they will cut him loose just as fast as they signed him in the off season.
TB's sole focus, from owner to 25th man, is to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals with a chance at another Cup.Yeah I think it's all the new faces too every year since they've been so successful every post season the salary cap causes them to lose all their free agents every year too...

So the season starts tonight! Ill take the Rangers and Vegas to win. What say ye TFG? Your boys open in the big apple.
I dunno man...Tampa facing injuries and sexual assault allegations...can't be smooth sailing for lighting I'm thinking...

The box they presented them with the video on the inside of the lid was awesome as well.
Very very true...even the box...what an awesome life to be NHLers...

Well since Milano and Eakin got cut the lines on opening night are:
Huberdeau/Lindholm/Toffoli
Dube/Kadri/Mangiapane
Coleman/Backlund/Lewis
Lucic/Ruzicka/Ritchie
Rooney rotating in/out with Ruzicka/Ritchie
Weegar/Tanev
Andersson/Hanifin
Zadorov/Mackey
Meloche/Stone rotating with Mackey
Too bad Milano and Eakin didn't work out because either one of them seems to be an upgrade on Ruzicka and Ritchie...
Also Valimaki was claimed off waivers by Arizona...with each year Valimaki looked more and more like a drug addict just the bags under his eyes and pale skinny face for such a big guy...who knows but he never looked healthy to me...

Can't see Ruzicka or Zohorna staying...and Stone/Mackie seem to be the bottom defencemen sticking around...I think Eakin/Ritchie/Milano are forwards that will rotate as well...
-
Well so far Backlund Tanev Coleman and Kadri have worn the A in preseason...but no Looch yet

Meh, pre-season who gives a damn...
5-3 loss to the Jets
Worth watching just to see that Huberdeau move on Toffoli goal

Calgary in buy mode for another 3-5 years or so while Sutter still around to lead us back to the promised land...

1. Colorado - Never heard of a team winning the Cup then losing their Cup winning goalie so soon...only in the salary cap era...Colorado will still win the West but they won't repeat just like Tampa Bay couldn't threepeat before them...

Very disappointing loss for Calgary but I'm not concerned as I see it as just a practice game that will help get everyone into game shape for opening night...I like the lines Sutter seem to be going with and a think opening night we'll see a solid defensive game from Calgary...

If this trend continues, any long-term extensions signed prior to 2020 will look like bargains.
Looks like that's where everything heading...NBA top players making closer to 50M/year...MLB 30M/year...the owners pretend to never be able to afford paying more yet I've never seen any owners doing anything else but keep being rich I got not sympathy for these owner hypocrites wanting salary caps instead of being responsible for their own budgets...

Pretty dominant win for Calgary and Kadri looks good with Mangiapane/Dube
-
Today's pratice lineups:
Huberdeau/Lindholm/Toffoli
Mangiapane/Kadri/Dube
Rooney/Backlund/Coleman
Milano/Ruzicka/Ritchie
Lucic/Eakin/Lewis
Hanifin/Andersson
Zadorov/Weegar
Poirer/Tanev
Mackey/Stone
Valimaki/Meloche
Looks like Sutter will keep the Backlund/Coleman duo from last year and will probably be the best defensive forward line no matter who ends up with them...Sutter also trying out Kadri with Dube/Mangepanne so hopefully they have chemistry since this would be the fastest line for sure...
Ruzicka going back down for sure since he's the youngest and that leaves the 14 veterans forwards with Ritchie/Eakin healthy scratches most nights...
On defence looks like Valimaki/Poirer/Meloche should be heading back down since they don't have to clear waivers...and Stone/Macky will take turns sitting out...but since Macky/Stone are getting practice time together Tanev might not be ready to play yet and could get more rest to make sure not to reinjure...
Actually since they're practicing with Rooney moved up with Backlund/Coleman maybe Mangiapane needs for rest too so not too reinjure too...in that case Milano would probably take his spot with Kadri/Dube...

Another preseason game and no Stall brothers at all...I'm thinking next game they have to be in lineup together finally...

Not sure what a Troll has to do with a Kraken...they should have ocean mascots like mermaids or octopus etc...a blue troll is just a giant Smurf...
