  1. Yeah...not at all happy with Huberdeau and Kadri getting Sutter fired...still can't believe Calgary ended up this bad but should have known after Gaudreau left and started the exodus that it was the beginning of the end for Calgary's window...now it's just as bad as a total rebuild...

NHL to end cause based jerseys next season

I've always been lukewarm on the whole thing, especially since they tend to be worn during warm-ups instead of the game, which gives me a "who cares?" kind of response. It feels overly performative rather than having a point.

Something vaguely related, the only one off jersey I've ever bought was several years ago, when my city's team had a Canada Day game where they wore special jerseys for the game. I bought one in an online auction and it felt good as it helped support a team that always needs more cash flow. I doubt I'll ever do the same for a very wealthy NHL side.

The league doesn't want the attention about who won't wear them etc so they just rather remove issue all together...

I'd love to see a better season from Markstrom....

But, and i don't want to anoint just yet, the WOLF is in wait.

Yeah it was just an off year for Markstrom and the Flames I'm sure he'll do better this season I'm not worried about goaltending this year at all...it's losing all our veterans and losing Sutter that worries me most...

  4. I'm happy with Huska being head coach it's the best of a bad situation for me similar when we lost Tkachuk and Gaudreau it felt like almost the end of the world haha...still rather have Sutter back personally but this does seem like the best alternative to that...

  5. With none of our veterans committing to extensions it really does look like Calgary in total rebuild mode...it's looking more and more now that it's confirmed none of the veterans want to stay that this team was really divided about Sutter...definitely Toffoli not signing extension is because of his favorite coach was fired and I'm guessing the rest of the vets that feel the same don't want to stay either...Lucic Backlund Hanifin Tanev Lindholm Lewis etc are all on their way out...older players don't have patience for rebuilding...I'm not going to recognize this Calgary team next season and it's pretty sad...hopefully Hushka and Connie and Iggy can keep us outta the NHL basement with our new Young Guns part II team...I'm hopeful Huska Conroy and Iginla can make the best of this situation because that Calgary choose to promote them all has been the only good news I've seen so far after Treliving left and they fired Sutter...

The Swedish vets not wanting to stay will cause the other Swedes to want to leave too...Marstrom Anderson etc even though Anderson loves Huska it won't be the same as when all those Swedes had each other on same team...and that goes same for the Sutter vets too Toffoli Lucic Lewis...oh well the Calgary owners have chosen out with the old and in with the new and I'm really worried were in for the same Young Guns era we had in the 90s again...

Love this movie. Just randomly watched it again this weekend. I've seen very few movies as much as I've seen this one. "Better Off Dead" and "Monty Python: The Holy Grail" are the two that quickly come to mind that are as much or more. I've seen "The Sure Thing" a half million times, too, so that's in the neighborhood.

Ah The Holy Grail...another of the all time greats🏆

Wonder if Provorov pulls a Jeff Carter and refuses to play for the jackets and forces them to flip him to another team? 😂

Nah...Columbus has to rebound this year they got Laine and Johnny Hockey never mind what they had before getting them so I doubt anyone wouldn't want to pay there plus getting a coach like Babcock means the owners are willing to spend to win and any players wants that situation no matter how much of an asshole the coach is...

The have Devon Levi so that wouldn't make much sense either.

Most of the chatter has been Oilers but they have Jack Campbell for 4 years 5mill per and Skinner for 3 yrs/2.6mill.

So guess we have to wait and see what Danny has up his sleeve.

Oh a side note the Oilers goalie situations are a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy season for me...

Got nothing...? I dunno man looks like a whole lotta lottery tickets in return to me and I'm a big believer in buying lottery tickets haha...🍻

Flames reached out to Gerard Gallant to gauge his interest in potentially coaching in Calgary. The answer was yes.

That's who I'd want too but I'm worried that Conroy wants a young coach like Gulutzan again...maybe that's why Treliving left was because Conroy and Bean wanted youth but Treliving wanted to stick with Sutter...🤷🏻‍♂️

    My .01

I'll watch with intensity, even though i have no dog in the fight, this is great for the NHL.

A first time Cup winning franchise and head coach.....

Reason for me t want VGK to win....Obvious choice would be the Cassidy factor. I was not a fan the the bruins firing him, even though i understand why they had to, and it worked out great in the end with Monty.

Reason for me to want Florida to win...long time franchise having a cinderella season, and as a Flames fan, Chucky.

Yeah the Tkachuk/Bennett/Lomberg factor takes it for me too man hahaha...if I could I'd travel with Brady Tkachuk getting drunk and cheering on Tkachuky cheese...man imagine if Calgary could have kept Gaudreau/Tkachuk/Bennett...oh well🍻

That Vegas team is built to win. They have four equal lines with almost all players that can adapt and exchange roles. A question mark about the special teams where Vegas has just been average. If Hill maintains his level of play, Vegas is a bit ahead IMO. Eichel is on fire, Marchessault is back on the Conn-Smythe discussion, Barbashev was a key addition; I like Carrier, Roy, Karlsson, Smith a lot, completely underrated players. Vegas in 6.

I would give offence to Florida and Robustness to Vegas since I don't see anyone on Florida that's really tough even though Vegas doesn't have anyone tough guys either I just think overall Vegas is stronger physically...well Lomberg and Bennett can fight but their size isn't intimidating to Vegas or anyone really haha...Vegas is balanced but Florida is creative and just faster I think plus the Tkachuk factor just makes me give Florida the offensive edge here even over Eichel...I agree this ends in 6...but for Florida instead hahaha this is gonna be a good series🍻

    Florida in 7.

It feels like Bob is on a mission and is the difference.

With that said i just jinxed Ricked him and you can blame me...

Yeah Broboviski is the difference for me too...I mean Aiden Hill was like 3rd or 4th string if their other goalies were healthy I'd even put Quick in before Hill but we'll see I guess...I think the goalie issue for Vegas is why Edmonton and Dallas had any chance against them to begin with...

The Flames have $1.25M in cap space.

They'll have more if Lucic takes a pay cut...Lucic made 5 mil last year if he takes 2 mil Calgary will have 3mil more cap space...of if Calgary gets rid of Lucic altogether they have 5 mil extra...

  16. With Zylington returning I doubt Stone gets signed this year which sucks since he's a good deal at under a mil...but the top 4 defencemen are locked in then with Zadorov and Stecher here can't see how they keep him...

For me I just wish they keep Lucic and Lewis...Lewis at league minimum is a good deal and I'd offer Lucic 2 mil and hope he stays...

I know that you like him, but the Flames will improve with literally any replacement for Milan Lucic. He spent most of his minutes heavily sheltered by coach Sutter, playing the lowest competition available, and the Flames still only scored 41% of the goals while he out there.

One of Calgary's problems has been Lucic's presence and cap hit on the roster, taking opportunities away from younger, better and cheaper players.

Yeah his stats are bad but Sutter team stats and analytics were good despite not making the playoffs...so yeah I'm biased but I still try to keep Looch if I were Conroy...

You mean 20 points a year for four years isn't a good return for $6M?

    🤔

I think Looch knows he only worth under 2 mil now...I'm sure he'd play for 1.5 and I'd rather have him on 3rd or 4th line despite bad stats he good for team morale and leadership even if he didn't knockout big Mac this year...
