It's not boxing for sure, but it still sends the message that they are not going to wimp away from the game, that they are going to face the challenge.

I get your point but I think it's more of a symbolic value than anything else.

Heck, I think MacDermid will probably remember better a month from now his NHL20 box scores than Foligno's message.

That's three times more than a first time offender usually gets. Justice is blind.

Or are they purposely increasing the length of suspensions even for first time offenders...?

Interesting to see how they react to Dube on Kotkaniemi.

I didn't really appreciate Foligno using the "hot goalie" excuse after the last lost game, but he really lit the team on fire at the start of this last won game. This time actions spoke louder than words.

I don't know... two guys with visors on going at it for 10 seconds.

The league has pretty much killed fighting, and although I miss the 80's badly, that is good.

Also, Eriksson Ek is going to center the 2nd line.  Sturm moves up to 3rd line center and Bonino moves back to 4th line center.  Otherwise I think the lineup is the same as you see in @MNSOTA's article.

Still ZERO news on Rossi.  IMO, this is starting to concern me a bit.

I was very skeptical of Guerin's center acquisitions in the off-season.

What is your hot take from a small sample size so far - is the Wild screwed because of not enough of high end talent in C?

Yeah, eventually they invested $13 M to a player that isn't much of scorer. Apparently case Lucic wasn't enough to teach them a lesson.

Although, IMO Kassian is a better and more versatile player than Lucic ever was. And the Flames still pay $6 M a year to him, ouch.

I think in the grand scheme of things this wasn't too bad after all, huh?

Watch this video of Ilya Sorokin highlights to get yourself hyped up for the 2021 season, his first in a New York Islanders sweater.

Over the last five years with CSKA Moscow, Sorokin has put up save percentages of .935, .940, .931, .929, and .953. He’s had goals-against averages of 1.50, 1.16, 1.59, 1.61, and 1.06 to go along with four 20+ win seasons.

A much better game from Sorokin against the Devils! 👍

Wild Earn Series Split Against Ducks, Talbot Improves

Here are my reflections on the Wild series against the Ducks, as well as some thoughts on the Ian Cole / Greg Pateryn trade and prospect news too!  Great effort at the start and luckily the team was able to get a goal early in the 3rd.  Kahkonen is still a work in progress...enjoy and discuss.

Oh and the 4th line was awesome...AGAIN!

You're way too critical of Kahkonen. It was his first competitive game in 13 months. Those weren't rookie's mistakes, it was plain and simple rust.

Before the end of the season he will play much better than Talbot.

But thanks to Talbot's contract, they are going to play him more. Dubnyk saga all over again. Some organizations, like Minnesota, just never learn.

Just found that Alex Galchenyuk is not with us anymore, but he signed with Ottawa Senators team according to eliteprospects.com . Interesting, what kind of team we are going to have this season? A full mystery already as well as entire hockey season - when is going to start, how long, how smooth or how intermittent(not steady) is going to be? And how the players and fans are thinking about that too?

Also more news , before the season is going to start, the Wild organization is going to name the new team captain.

Here is the link to the article:

    https://www.hockeywilderness.com/2020/11/23/21611667/new-minnesota-wild-captain-to-be-named-for-upcoming-season-nhl-prospect-draft-offseason

I don't want to sound cruel but the Wild will suck **** when and if the season starts. Half of the forward corps are with the status of "if and maybe". The team is faster than before but inexperienced, and who will be the scoring dynamo? And you need more than Fiala. Even at this point no one knows who will be the designated #1 center. Koivu will very soon be happy they didn't offer him an extension.

    Galchenyuk, not a big loss.

  9. A very good decision. Talking about karma...

Nasty situation for Miller to be in, torn apart like this in social media but let's face it, he can only blame himself. All the details I've read about the abuse, abuses, are very disturbing. So they're making an example of him; great.

Hopefully many bullies take notes and even for a second stop and think about the consequences of their actions... to themselves.

Yeah, I know. If I was Kahkonen, I would probably be out of mind with frustration. But he seems fine with it. Developing goalies is weird. We don't want a Kuemper situation. As in having a potential home run goalie, who suddenly turns out to be really shaky any time he gives up a goal. Shelter the goalie to let him grow, and then stop sheltering him to let him grow even bigger - but how does one know when it's the right time?

The list of Wild goaltending prospects, aka development projects, that have turned into a success is a very short one.

Actually, in the history of Wild there isn't a single goalie drafted by the Wild who's been a clear cut starter for more than a season. Although Backstrom began his career with the Wild, he was undrafted. Lots of failures though for one reason or another (Harding, Kuemper, Khudobin, Hackett).

This speaks volumes. The Wild no **** about developing their goalie prospects.

If he plays like Jane this is a waste of money.

Granted, he hasn't scored enough but the few games I've seen of him he's been physical, though.

Or dare I put it this way; of the current Wild roster he's one of few ****s in a bunch of *****es.

He will be the top goalie in the NHL next year with our Defense ;)

Good thing you added that smiley... 😉

Yeah, it seems the Wild Twitter is pretty divided with this one too. Like always, everyone is right on the money with their opinion.

Red hot goalie prospect with only 5 NHL games under his belt. Do we really want another Kuemper-situation? And signing Holtby probably wasn't possible, willing to bet he wants to be a no.1 goalie, not be a body to fill the net while Kahkonen keeps developing.

Um, so a prospect can't be hot without NHL games? That's why they are prospects! When you get voted as the best goalie in the AHL, you're pretty darn good.

The Capitals decided to make Samsonov their #1 goalie and throw Vezina winner Holtby out... Samsonov is YOUNGER than Kahkonen and has played LESS games than Kahkonen in NA. And as their back-up the Capitals acquired Lundqvist for #1.5 million.

This comparison alone makes the Wild's move look like rubbish.

Yeah, Holtby wants to win so why come to Minnesota? Besides, he's Canadian.

Um, so the Wild wants to avoid another Kuemper "situation" by signing an old back-up goalie to continue where Dubnyk left off? To play so bad you get traded. Buddy, you're hanging on to very slippery straws...

The most interesting fact would be to know did Talbot get NMC and for how long?
