In general I think these back-to-back games are a good innovation. They could tense up rivalry.

But in this particular case, it might lead to a disaster if the other party is already crippled before the opening puck. I think the Avs smell blood and my God, do they have offensive prowess or what.

Hammond is a spent force.

But Kahkonen in? Very good. A proper audition. If he can't cut it, better to know early.

Yeah, eventually they invested $13 M to a player that isn't much of scorer. Apparently case Lucic wasn't enough to teach them a lesson.

Although, IMO Kassian is a better and more versatile player than Lucic ever was. And the Flames still pay $6 M a year to him, ouch.

I think in the grand scheme of things this wasn't too bad after all, huh?

Hart is so overrated by the Flyers fanbase. So they try to give you attitude and then their mancrush FAILS. Very appropriate GIF...

Kahkonen is the real deal. Clear the crease off all of these washed up goalies in the org.

Here are my reflections on the Wild series against the Ducks, as well as some thoughts on the Ian Cole / Greg Pateryn trade and prospect news too!  Great effort at the start and luckily the team was able to get a goal early in the 3rd.  Kahkonen is still a work in progress...enjoy and discuss.  

 

Oh and the 4th line was awesome...AGAIN!  

You're way too critical of Kahkonen. It was his first competitive game in 13 months. Those weren't rookie's mistakes, it was plain and simple rust.

Before the end of the season he will play much better than Talbot.

But thanks to Talbot's contract, they are going to play him more. Dubnyk saga all over again. Some organizations, like Minnesota, just never learn.

I don't want to sound cruel but the Wild will suck **** when and if the season starts. Half of the forward corps are with the status of "if and maybe". The team is faster than before but inexperienced, and who will be the scoring dynamo? And you need more than Fiala. Even at this point no one knows who will be the designated #1 center. Koivu will very soon be happy they didn't offer him an extension.

Nasty situation for Miller to be in, torn apart like this in social media but let's face it, he can only blame himself. All the details I've read about the abuse, abuses, are very disturbing. So they're making an example of him; great.

Hopefully many bullies take notes and even for a second stop and think about the consequences of their actions... to themselves.

The list of Wild goaltending prospects, aka development projects, that have turned into a success is a very short one.

Actually, in the history of Wild there isn't a single goalie drafted by the Wild who's been a clear cut starter for more than a season. Although Backstrom began his career with the Wild, he was undrafted. Lots of failures though for one reason or another (Harding, Kuemper, Khudobin, Hackett).

This speaks volumes. The Wild no **** about developing their goalie prospects.

Kahkonen will be another name in the list of prospects getting hosed by the Wild organization. 

LOL. So the team has no #1 goalie and what do they do: overpay a washed-up goalie and hand a two way contract to the best goalie in the AHL last year. LMAO, can you provide a  motivational speech than that.

Koivu heading to Columbus according to LeBrun. One year, $1.5 million.

Just looking at that salary I reckon the Wild were very anxious to get rid of him. 

Jordan Greenway signed a two-year, $4.2 million contract to remain with the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.

IMO a much better signing than the previous one of Talbot.

Um, so a prospect can't be hot without NHL games? That's why they are prospects! When you get voted as the best goalie in the AHL, you're pretty darn good.

The Capitals decided to make Samsonov their #1 goalie and throw Vezina winner Holtby out... Samsonov is YOUNGER than Kahkonen and has played LESS games than Kahkonen in NA. And as their back-up the Capitals acquired Lundqvist for #1.5 million.

This comparison alone makes the Wild's move look like rubbish.

Yeah, Holtby wants to win so why come to Minnesota? Besides, he's Canadian.

Um, so the Wild wants to avoid another Kuemper "situation" by signing an old back-up goalie to continue where Dubnyk left off? To play so bad you get traded. Buddy, you're hanging on to very slippery straws...

The most interesting fact would be to know did Talbot get NMC and for how long?
