That chart is definitely disturbing. I wonder if the increased costs for everything still allow them to come ahead financially in the end though (i.e. make more profit). It may be one of those things that makes sense on the business end in the aggregate but really sucks for individual consumers.
I have to wonder if they see TV revenue or Europe...can't figure it out. Comcast has a lot invested in the O and B. They can't be happy with that chart.

Greetings:
Take a gander at this bar chart:
http://www.hockeydb.com/nhl-attendance/att_graph.php?tmi=7439
The management made a booboo by raising tickets significantly after a lousy season. Now they offer $25 SRO for the youngsters who don't have a pot to pee in. This drop off is for real. Earnings are going nowhere for most Americans. I agree with some commentators that with hockey, you either buy a good ticket or don't go--following a puck from nosebleed makes no sense. Personally, I find the up-and-down during first period to be very disturbing at Panthers' games, and it is one of the reasons I don't go. All in, $149 for NHL Center Ice is a true bargain from my vantage. Let me enjoy my own food and wine, stop worrying about getting stepped on...$20+ parking, etc.
Peace,
Howie

We are showing as heavy favorites:

I hope the team is angry over last night's loss to Phoenix and scores early. Ottawa is sub.500--we should play better.

Well, the Yotes were a shade hungrier and their goalie was a shade better than ours. There was no lack of effort, but this Phoenix team plays tough, team D. Our captain didn't help with some untimely penalties.

We are a fairly heavy favorite, despite similar play over the last 10 games:

Historically, we've played well against this franchise, particularly at home. They are 2nd in the Pacific--not to be taken lightly.

This was an interesting game to watch. Hart held the fort until the reinforcements came. The Leafs must have been deflated after the second goal. On the other hand, no let up on the Flyers' part. They wanted to take care of business.
-
Greetings:
This is a tough call:
The Leafs are 4-1 under Keefe and Andersson has a 2.47 GAA. We have played well but our last 10 have been a mixed bag. The O and B can't rest on laurels. This will be a good test.

This was an entertaining game. Ups, downs, ties, whatever. Both goalies were good. The teams fought. I'm glad we took OT. Agreed with JJ and Jones that the looks on our coaching staff's faces were priceless.
This is a team. They seems to fight for each other and go about their business. Kevin Hayes's post-game remark that it's time to have a record December sums things up nicely.

My brother balled me out for not having more faith in the team after they fell behind. There is some truth to that!
I guess the fourth line earned its keep as did G and Moose. They could have caved or given up the lead in the third. Moose earned his keep.
Pitlick will never score a bundle but he works and seems to be pretty responsible. He and Raffl were doing a lot to keep CBS bottled up in their zone during the third period.
Good win....

Greetings:
After a slow start, CBS has won four of five. Both teams rank in the bottom 10 five-on-five; so, special teams may be important. It looks like Moose between the pipes. JVR on the 4th line....OMG.

The Flyers are heavy underdogs at Nationwide:

Our historical performance at Columbus is nightmarish:

This game and the upcoming tilts with Detroit and Montreal mark the end of a busy November. Let's hope for the best.

Here is an interesting take:
https://statsalt.com/games/nhl/11-25-2019/vancouver-canucks-vs-philadelphia-flyers-prediction-3158/
The Canucks appear to be on the upswing; we pick up points but have lost six of seven. AV and the Brass have to be concerned with our lack of scoring. Third period swoons don't help.
-
On another note, I recall Haksol also benched Ghost as healthy scratch. Maybe the league has learned how to play his stutter steps and fakes.
-
So, we have another Bobo in Rittich. Glad I didn't watch. It would have angered me.

The question is whether this guy returns to play on a stable/consistent basis. We dont need Forsberg-style drama. I hate to say that but this kid's history isn't the stuff that dreams are made of.
-
You'd hope the fourth line could generate some points. On paper, they are big with some skill. Maybe I am deluded.

Greetings:
We are mild favorites:
Calgary won the first matchup 3-1 on October 15. This is an underperforming Calgary squad, but there's skill and speed that the O and B have found challenging (we've lost five of the last six). Carter Hart is apparently between the pipes and Scott Laughton is back. This should make for some interesting lines this evening.
-
Well, at least our friend Hayes scored....EN is better than nothing. There was gumption to pull out of the first five minute manhole.
-
I concur. I think a shake-up might help. There are legitimate doubts about our core. I am fearful we have an albatross or two on hand.

From the "eyeball" approach, it looks like the team reacts better "on the fly" to opponents' style than during the Hakstol era. Their special teams play has perked up.
On the other hand, I agree with one assessment that says the following: AV's style of "attack hockey" requires four competent lines. I see a Flyers team with one competent offensive line and not much else. Frost might help. But we have JVR, G, V, and Ghost taking a lot of cap and not producing. The next 20 games might bring change. Or it may need to be induced by trade:

We are the underdog in this match-up:
https://www.thesportsgeek.com/nhl/flyers-vs-hurricanes-nhl-pick-november-21st-2019/
The O and B are 4-9 in our last 13 at Raleigh. We have not been a good away team, and Mr. Hart hasn't been that effective on the road (not sure which is cause or effect).
This is a "speed-skill" club that's been hard to contain for the last several seasons. It is a good Metro Division test.
On a broader note, I have to agree with some of the recent commentaries about G-V-H. Are we witnessing a serious "aging" process. Are youngins are carrying the scoring burden.
Ghost's performance is another concern. Provorov has replaced him as the "real" PP quarterback. We never expected big D from Ghost. Now his O is lacking.
So--this game is really the beginning of the second quarter. I hope for good things but wonder if the man of action (Fletcher) is thinking about the reshape of his roster. On that score--Braun is -13. That's not a real good sign.

We are underdogs in Sunrise:
https://www.oddsshark.com/nhl/philadelphia-florida-odds-november-19-2019-1160771
Statistically, the teams are similar but Florida is much better over the last 10 games. This is an interesting matchup with two of the best coaches in their respective first years. Florida's rebuild seems to be progressing better than ours, and the Barkov line has skill and speed. This was a team we used to beat up on . Over the last few years, FLA has been tough, particularly in Sunrise, where we are on three game losing streak:
https://www.flyershistory.com/cgi-bin/opponent.cgi?Florida_Panthers
Hopefully, adding Morgan Frost sparks our offense.
-
Thoughts:
1) Hart was good, Nillson was better.
2) The absence of a developing Nolan Patrick is hurting, especially if Hayes isn't producing.
3) I'm glad Pitlick scored; he's worked hard.
4) I agree with Clement and Bundy that AV's D first may lead to scoring draughts.
Tomorrow's game is more important after tonight's loss.
-
Greetings:
We are fairly heavy favorites:
Craig Anderson is between the pipes for the Sens. His record against us last year was 0-2 and GAA north of 3.0. I agree with Occ that we can't rest on laurels. Hopefully AV gets the gang motivated.

We haven't played well against this team historically, particularly in the Mile High City:
https://www.flyershistory.com/cgi-bin/opponent.cgi?Colorado_Avalanche
AV will have to figure out how to slow them down in the neutral zone, otherwise we face a lot of pressure and get bottled up in our own zone. McDavid is a beast and thorn in our side.
