Good Morning:
I seem to recall that one of the few negatives about Ellis was injury-proneness.
This may be overstated. Maybe not? We will see.

what is wrong with Ellis?
Coach X:
I didn't see specifics. It was supposedly one game, now a second.

Greetings:
We are heavy underdogs against the unbeaten Oilers:

Ellis is out of the lineup. It looks like Hart versus Koskinen (2.03 GAA) between the pipes. We've played well against the West of late (7-1), but with a different lineup.

Looking forward to attending this game in person instead of from my recliner in Rochester, NY! Haven’t made the trip down to Philly since before COVID.
Samifan:
I hope you have a great visit. My grandmother lived in Rochester--Portsmouth Terrace. I have memories of Rochester Red Wings baseball during the Baltimore Era at Silver Stadium. I flew up from Philly on Eastern....sometimes on four-engine prop planes! I haven't been there since the Seventies. I always thought it was a great mid-sized town. Have a pretzel and beer for me. Enjoy!!!

Greetings:
Draftkings shows us as a fairly steep underdog. The visitors are number 2 in their ratings, we are #15. The Panthers are super-stingy on D with great scoring, explaining a 4-0 start:
https://www.dratings.com/predictor/nhl-hockey-predictions/9df4344d-6f31-545e-ab4f-77554c1bcd35
Historically, we've played well against the Panthers, particularly in Sunrise

But in the last few years, the Barkov line has given us fits. This is a great test for the O and B.

He's 26 now. He is what he is. A big hitter with some offence who has no clue how to play without the puck. If he had any hockey sense there would have been a bidding war for him.
Ok, there was a bidding war, but it was only Chuck Fletcher.
I guess this comes under the "time will tell" gig! I wish our D youngins had grown faster or in case of Meyers, better.

The press on Risto is uniformly bad. I hope he gets his bleep together.
-
I worked tonight and settled for highlights. It looked like the Risto-Sanhem pairing was pretty inept. I hope they can work ot out.
-
One way of looking at this is the following. If the guy shows sustained incompetence early on, I suspect possible waiver. They can't afford to run Hart into the ground. Fletcher and Flahr aren't idiots. If save percentage is below .900 and GAA is considerably worse than Hart, they will save on cap and see if a farmhand is an upgrade on Lyon. That is one dude's opinion.

The Bruins are favorites for this match:

Boston plays well in Philly, going 4-1 in the last 5. This could be a battle of defenses. It looks like Swayman versus Jones. If that is the case, we get a read on our D and whether we have a "new-and-improved" Jones.
-
Well, the O and B had some Wheaties. Will they carry through to period 2?

Greetings:
Yes, this could be a trying time for the team. Truth be told, I wish we had another top-tier center to pair with Farabee. Then, I'd put our Selke winner on #2 and have a much more competitive team. Our D is a mess, but winning also means puck possession and time in the attack zone. We win faceoffs...OK, then what? It is depressing.

Greetings:
We are installed as the favorite in Hakstol's homecoming:
Here is the lineup:
Carter Hart will start in net Monday night. The Flyers will have a morning skate at the Wells Fargo Center.
Here's how the Flyers looked Sunday at practice:
Forwards
Claude Giroux-Sean Couturier-Travis Konecny
Joel Farabee-Derick Brassard-Cam Atkinson
Oskar Lindblom-Scott Laughton-James van Riemsdyk
Max Willman-Nate Thompson-Nicolas Aube-Kubel
Defensemen
Ivan Provorov-Ryan Ellis
Travis Sanheim-Justin Braun
Keith Yandle-Seeler
Risto is apparently out. The Kraken are on their 4th game a continent from home. The bookies are questioning Flyers' D and goal after the Canucks game. Seattle has good possession numbers despite low shot totals.

This didn't leave me with the warm and fuzzies. Agreed with others that falling asleep after the first was bad.
Hart's awareness of surroundings was awful. I think Morganti or Jones commented on that. I also wonder if opponents are targeting high glove?
Last point: I think we will see York sooner than later. Let him grow on a third line pairing. I have doubts about the D Corp, with or without Risto. They cant play Ellis and Provo 28 mins plus each game, which they did tonight. They will wear out.

I thought this was supposed to be a new beginning. So far, 20-21 Redux!
-
OK, Cam had a Dunkin.
-
I think they took Xanax between periods. What a mess.

It is critical for AV, most certainly. I think Chuckles has a bit more time, if simply for the reason that his dad is good friends with Robert Earle Clarke.
That may be better than Robert Esche....shoot, maybe he could suit up if our tandem has problems.

That ruined my breakfast
Sorry, strictly unintentional.
BTW, this season is critical for AV and CF. I would say non-playoff ends their tenures. The same may hold for a first round exit.

Fordyce and Hall think York will be a regular by mid-season due to need and Braun's aging. Hayes' return will bring more shuffling. I suspect the squad on Black Friday will have different faces.

We are entering as favorites over a Canucks team that lost its opener:

Between COVID and visa issues, neither of the newbies will suit up. Risto is out with UBI. So:
Giroux-Coots-TK
Farabee-Bressard-Atkinson
Lindblom-Laughton-JVR
Max Willman-Thompson-NAK
Ellis-Provorov
Sanheim-Braun
Yandle-Seeler
Hart

Are we being told that none of the prospects is good enough to try, or that it's a waste of development time to sit on the bench? I suspect one or both will be waived by season's end.

Not sure I read either link the way you did, but I'll tell you this:
I am not putting a lot of stock in any"pundit" who is saying Carolina will win the Metro. Prediction: they miss the playoffs. I think they screwed up their goaltending, their defense, and their chemistry with a truly bizarre offseason.
And I think they're way too high on the capitals.
Not sure what to think of the Flyers, but I didn't actually see "mediocrity" regarding the division. Maybe some mediocrity on prognosticating, though.
Rux: I don't think we are in the top three in the Metro. I could be pleasantly surprised. The pundits in Vegas did not see us as a playoff team last year. Whether they are right this year is TBD. I posted this as food for thought. Again, I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

I've read two pieces that say NAK is vulnerable to replacement from either the newbies or other, including Allison if he recovers. I don't think the Coach will tolerate his play for long. It hurts the squad.
