my cable guide (Spectrum) shows it's on ESPN tonight. I have a feeling it's a mistake but as of 5pm that's what it shows.

    Howdy:

It is showing on ESPN as well on my Comcast Guide.  It isn't on Center Ice.  I am going to change the heading.

Peace, and thanks double checking a semi-old fart, Sir Grateful.

  2. Greetings:

Boston is heavily favored (-250), with Tukka Rask scheduled to make his season debut.  He will be facing Carter Hart.  The computer simulation is a 3-1 Bruin victory.

According to Jordan Hall, here is the lineup:

    Forwards

    Joel Farabee-Claude Giroux-Cam Atkinson

    James van Riemsdyk-Kevin Hayes-Travis Konecny

    Jackson Cates-Scott Laughton-Oskar Lindblom

    Max Willman-Morgan Frost-Zack MacEwen

    Connor Bunnaman-Gerry Mayhew (extras)

    Defensemen

    Ivan Provorov-Travis Sanheim

    Cam York-Justin Braun

    Keith Yandle-Nick Seeler

    Egor Zamula-Kevin Connauton (extras)

    Goalies

    Carter Hart

    Martin Jones

    Kirill Ustimenko (extra)

These teams are going in opposite directions, with the Flyers losers in their last five and the Bruins having won four of the last five.  Hopefully, this game isn't canceled.

just so you know the Hand Slapping Face icon is for Morin not for you... It is sad. Morin has everything to make him into a solid NHL D-man....everything except the luck or whatever it is to keep him out of the hospital. Damn.

Sir Grateful:  I didn't think it was directed at me for one moment.  Yes, it is sad and your assessment is spot on. The kid can't catch a break.  The clip of his his first goal is on YouTube.  It is a great sight; his teammates mobbed him.  He must be a terrific presence.

  4. Greetings:

In case you haven't seen it, Sam Morin is out for the year:

This is sad.  I was hoping he'd get some time to show his stuff and displace the Seelers and others.  Now I wonder if his career with the Flyers or elsewhere is over?  I don't think they can give up a slot forever in hopes of his recovery/performance.

  5. I posted a separate thread on this and will suppress it.  I am a bit more sympathetic.  Yes, Clarke has his own sins to atone for but Hextall may not have been a good listener.  At the time, his dismissal was described in terms of Lincoln dismissing McClellan--"he suffers from the slows."  Maybe there was more.

According to the Top Shelf Hockey "maven," this is going to be an interesting situation that might result in a buyout post mediation/grievance.  Apparently, San Jose gave the dude a limited movement clause, and his hometown Vancouver Canucks and the two Florida squads are designated accordingly.  I cannot imagine taking a chance with him.

I am good with blowing this team up I just want someone else to do it not Chuckles....

    :BrownBag:

Per earlier comments, I think he may be part of the problem rather than the solution. That said, of a new GM isn't allowed to do a blowup and tell the fans we will have 2-3 bad years en route to a new foundation, we may still be up Schitts Creek.

Chuck is probably a decent man who gets it. I dont know if he has the courage to act on it.

I recall our ECF against Tampa in 2003-4. That team had grit. I don't go into the later runs. Let's just say that we have been on a decades-long walk in the desert. I watch out of a strong sense of loyalty and history, but these games are more irritating than entertaining.

Dave Scott is at zero hour with his subordinates. Yeo, to his credit, acknowledged bad habits in his presser. Any coach will have a tough time with this bunch. That said, it may be time to pull the plug on most of this squad and its management. It makes me sad.

  9. Greetings:

To my surprise, the O and B are actually favored (-132).  It looks like Martin Jones versus Adin Hill in goal:

Hopefully, whatever roster hits the ice shows gumption.  On a broader note, we should probably look at these games as player and coaching audition for next season's roster, in Philly or elsewhere.  This squad doesn't look destined for some miracle run.

Another "meaningless" NHL season with a big ol' Astrix next to the cup winner....

Teams are full of AHL call ups, games canceled, schedules and travel are impacting teams and their play.... Garbage.

ALSO.... is Ryan Ellis still on our Roster or did he just quietly leave through the back door of the WFC one night and no one noticed.....

Haven't heard a thing about this guy for what seems like weeks.....

    Dear Maine:

I agree on the season.  About the only positive for the Flyers may be from the AHL call-ups.  We have a potential backup in Sandstrom. York is a keeper.  If Fletcher puts up the For Sale sign, we may have others to build on.  At this stage, I would rather see the youngins than JVR, Yandle, and the others....including Giroux if we get something good.

Ellis could be a real human and organizational tragedy.  Seriously.  I hope we don't have another Hatcher or Rathje on our hands.  Even worse would be a late stage Forsberg who was in and out of the lineup and disruptive.  At least Hatcher retired, and Rathje was LTIR.  Either way, we might have a cap-consuming mess.
