  1. @jammer2 Do you think Columbus will ever draft a russian again?? <snickers> If memory serves they screwed the pooch, not once, but twice in drafting russians with a high pick.
  2. If you have rum- he will come! ha ha
  3. I did not know that. Thanks. I also do not think he was brought in to play first OR second line wing. It is a utility role move to me. 7-10 minutes a night.
  4. While effing himself in the process. This summer has been a big fat F in my book for Homer. The draft was idiotic (though I am not as sour on Laughton as I was initially), the FA was a cluster eff of epic proportions. The bobs move was a good one- particularly as a courtesy to Bobs (who the Flyers eff'd over royally), but to proceed to draft a goalie who will never put on a Flyers sweater with the 2nd round pick was just utterly effing stupid. I actually like the JVR-Schenn trade. That is the bright spot for me. Both players needed a change as both had become their respective teams whipping boy.
  5. Define top forward? You mean like first line forward? If so, that is not going to happen for either Luongo or Miller. On the Luongo side, the 10 years left on his contract is a detractor. Add into it the fact that he is on the "outs" pubicly puts Vancouver in a position of weakness bargaining wise. I think what you will see is a #1 and a prospect. On Miller, I think it is the opposite. He has two years left on his contract and his cap hit is huge. I think miller is a serviceable NHL goalie, but I do not put him in the stud category. So, the fact his cap hit is so huge and he is an average goalie, I give you the same (a #1 and a prospect).
  6. I just threw-up in my mouth a little. Kane is a very good player, but I don't put him in star stud category.
  7. The question is do the Sabres feel the same way?? I think Miller is WAY overrated. He had one great year and everything since has been mediocre.
  8. I agree with this and Vancouver is probably the third hardest city to play in (behind Toronto and Montreal). Philly would seem like a holiday to him.
  9. I said the same thing. In fact even if the Flyers let him rot on the bench for one more beyond this year, HALF of the contract will have been paid!! The problem is that we don't have another goalie.
  10. I was just saying we could do it if need be (iginla). From my nice armchair GM spot, I am done for the summer (other than getting the RFA's signed)- unless Doan becomes available. On Homer allowing for the possibility that Pronger may return- I doubt that, or else he would not have offerred 14M in contracts to Suter and Parise.
  11. Kane is a good player, but a bit too one dimensional for my blood. Couture was the cream of that weak draft class (at pick 10).
  12. Weber will not be available next year. He will be signed to a 3-4 year deal with Nashville or be moved elsewhere THIS summer.
  13. I just don't think Jakes skill set is a good mix for G. His size and effort are the right mix, but he is a pass first guy and when he does not pass, his shooting ability is mediocre at best. G needs guys that have size, can cycle with him AND finish. Jake has 2 of 3. I think we stayed the same. With Grossman and Schenn, we became allot more tougher in our d-zone. Our d does not need to be great. What they need to do is play within their abilities. Last year, there were a number of problems created by Lavi's "giddy up and go" system AND their being too wide of caps moving in all three zones. Accountability of that also falls on the forwards (ie leaving the zone too quick and not back checking hard enough). If we can get 17-18 quality minutes from Schenn, then I think we will be ok. The other part of it is that we need the Bryz from October / March, not the Bryz of Dec-Feb. 3 gf a game should be more than enough to win in this league. We can do that as long as Bryz is not giving up 3ga like he was from Dec - Feb.
  14. Not unless he is changing from LW to RW.
  15. Hey Jammer- Truthfully, for my cheap blood, I only want UFA route- unless it is for a guy that is locked up for 4-5 years. I would do a nash if it was a Read type starter (not Schenn and definitely not Couturier) and a 1st and two 2nds. But I think that train has left the station. If we were going to do that move, we would have done it with bobrovsky and JVR. There is about a 5% chance (if that) of Doan. I really like him for all the reasons you stated. Iginla is going to get paid again as a UFA. Maybe not 7m, but 6-6.5 would not be unreasonable. 30/40 guys do not grow on trees. If Jagr got 4.5m for 20-35, then certainly Iginla can get 6. For me, I ride out the season as is. Let Jake move up for the year- then go after Perry OR Iginla next summer. Perry would be my #1 target.
  16. Doesn't include Prongers 5m and we can be 10% over the cap prior to the season starting (giving us essentially Prongers LTIR money).
  17. And thus why this years draft was so significant. When I did my mock rankings review in May, I counted no less than 30 d-men in the top 60. While not necessarily going to have an immediate impact, certainly would could prospectively have an impact in 1-3 years. We did not even get a 2nd rounder for Carle. Oh, but wait, if we did, we would have drafted another goalie that has not shot at playing in the NHL.
  18. Its a VERY easy city to get lost in. However, if you are going to get lost, it is one of the best cities to get lost in. Great walking town. Did you tour the Heineken factory?
  19. I have some kittens here that are just so cute and adorable watching them run around. Interested??
  20. Then of course- make sure you are not cooking dinner with those special mushrooms they have there or else you are really eff'd. ^_^ I can tell you stories. There is an annual concert series (three days at Melkweg theatre) called "Jam at the Dam". I was living there and literally could not find my way home two years in a row. If you have ever been to Amsterdam, you will understand why (extracarricular stuff withstanding). After the shows, my accomplices and I would just meander around aimlessly for hours.
  21. I guess I can see that (lime beer). So do you use less lemon / lime juice mix for the margarita side or is it a direct swap (ie. the lime beer IS the mixer)? Truthfully, that sounds good...especially if you get some carbonation in the result.
  22. I struggle with @radoran points as well (which are valid). Perhaps it is not fair, but when I watch Nash on team Canada, he is a stud. Austria does not have the quality players that Canada does at the international level. They don't even qualify for the tourney's. It would be interesting to see Vanek on team Canada though. In all seriousness, Vanek and Nash's situations are very similar. I will take the 6'3 230lb RW over the 6'1 200 lb LW though.
  23. I should have known that. Have you ever met @DaGreatGazoo? I think he is near there as well.
