Truthfully, I was praying for just a point against the Hawks. To your point, there can be no let down against Dallas. I posted a couple of days ago that we need 98 points to get in the playoffs. There are 14 games left and to attain that means 17 more points. .600 hockey and we play all playoff teams after Dallas.
I am on the bash band wagon for him, but I thought his game / play last night was very good. If not for the Chi's goalie, Vinny could have had 2 and blown the game open. That said, he should have gone to the Canadians- where frogs go to sleep. Him and Briere would be a great tandem. (to my French Canadian brethren, I am using the frogs comment only as a joke).
I retract my comment. http://nesn.com/2014/01/tyler-seguin-trade-showing-potential-to-make-winners-out-of-all-parties-involved/ Stupid is as stupid does.
Didn't see the game (congrats), but what a stud Seguin is. Boston has to be kicking themselves after that trade. If you look back on it, Boston is the loser in the Kessel trade.
I had no issue with the first one. The second was totally weak. That said, he shut the door in the second and third and OT (and there were some highlight saves there).
Hartnell was stellar (aside from G). I thought Lecavelier had his best game as a Flyer I have seen. MacD was a stud again (despite the inadvertent penalty). I also though both Schens played very well. I would be remiss if I did not mention Emery. The second goal he let in was horrible, but after that he shut the door on many terrific chances by the hawks.
Agreed and fair enough. I am still sad about Brooks death. While there are many great coaches, what he did was amazing. I put him and Bowman as my two favorite- even if Brooks did catch lightning in a bottle.
Being as stupid as I am, would you give the Hart to the leading point getter / goal scorer, or the leading player on the ice? I am referencing Crosby, Stamkos, Getzlaf and Kessel here (for me, I think Kessel deserves equal merit as Girioux).I think the hart should go to the player that puts his team on his back. That is exactly what G is doing now and has since November.
Not a gloating post. I was absolutely stunned at how fast the Hawks are. I watched the San Jose-LA- Anaheim games for Philly, but hands down- Chicago is the fastest team I have seen this year. Bummer for you about the game. Well played by both teams. Your team is a serious repeat threat.
While there are certainly other worthy candidates (Crosby leading the way), I think its about time we start talking about Giroux as a Hart trophy finalist. He is just such an amazing player / leader. While I don't watch allot of other teams, he stirs the drink- so to speak, on this team. Given the abysmal start by the team and him, and the subsequent resurrection, I can not deny him as a legit candidate (even with my bipolar / biopic brain-eyes) .
Hi Jammer- I love lacrosse. It is a brutal sport and played with less pads than American football / ice hockey. I am too lazy to go look up how it became Canada's national sport. On the Lake Placid game, I think its a perfect characterization. You can't say that 80% of Canadas tv's were turned on for the Vancouver gold medal game without allowing that 80% of USA tv's were turned on for the USA / Russia game. Certainly there were enormous political implications, but it was also a david / goliath situation.
