  1. Yes- I was reading this thread before knowing about the bobrovsky trade. My bad.
  2. Masons only claim to fame was his sensational rookie season.
  3. So he is Talbots heir apparrent in 3 years??
  4. Unless he is a michael pecca type guy. But I don't know anything about him either and like someone else said, am not sure that he was the BPA at that point. Despite the heavy deluge of Dmen taken early, there are MANY in the top 60 that could have been taken (considering the Flyers do not have a second rounder).
  5. Truthfully that is a non-issue for me. Better to be a RFA than a UFA (ala suter). Also, given Poiles and Homers long standing relationship, I coule see something where a deal was arranged and all that remained was the signatures of the GM's AFTER the Flyers had an hour or so conversation with Weber to determine that he indeed would be happy to be a Flyer and not sign an offer sheet with another team (which under the current CBA and presuming he is going to make 8M plus would have four first round picks coming back to us).
  6. 1) Wow. 2) That is what rum will do to you!!!
  7. I don't know much about Murray (taken number two)? How is he compared to Rienhart? I have followed Rienhart for a while and think he is a great kid with a huge future in front of him (not to mention his lineage is good as well).
  8. Agreed and for once, Nashville has the money to start putting in some of the other pieces they need. As a quality organization goes, the only ones that come to mind with any sense of familiarity is Detroit, Philly and Nashville- as far as year in year out.
  9. Good point and I definitely guilty of extreme exaggeration on potential, but he has all the raw tools (size, skating, ice vision, physical, etc.). The thing is that he is probably 3-4 years away of having that kind of an impact where the two russians will have quicker impact on their clubs. What do you know about Murray that was drafted number two?
  10. Ok, you are fired too. I know the intent, but anted is not a word in the lexicon of the English dictionary. My lament was on the poor editing of the second lind of a professional sports journalist. It happens (poor editing / writing) and I am bored. Please do not take offense to me taking offense that a professional paper (writer and / or editor) made a mistake. It's no biggie. However, if you post anything here using "anted", I will bust huge balls!! ok?
  11. Green should have never been a defensemen. He has always looked to me like a winger.
  12. Since when has Reinhart moved to #3? I had him at 15-18 most of the year and see him on most panels as 7-12. That said, I would trade my left nut for Reinhart!! He is the next Weber / Pronger.
  13. What does "anted" mean? I don't mind missing an edit, but not in the second sentence of the article.
  14. We would need a 2nd round pick in the next decade first. Joking of course as our 2nd rounder (via LA Richards trade this year got Grossman. In seriousness, would Colorado really do that trade?? Avs fans were IRATE with the trade that brought Johnson to Colorad and sent Stewart and Shattenkirk to St Louis (and rightfully so). I guess what I am saying is that Colorado needs to make up for that poor trade and JVR for Johnson straight up would not get that done in my mind. If I am a Flyer GM, I would do it in a heart beat. Then I would also package our 3rd rounder and 1st round pick and a prospect at the AHL level to move up and pick Rienhart. Reinhart and Johnson would be our 1/2 in 3 years. This upcoming year, johnson would be 3/4 (replace Carle) and Reinhart would be tearing up the AHL. If the deal was to get done: Here is what it looks like: To Phi: Grossman, Erik Johnson, Schenn, Simmonds To others: Richards, JVR, 3rd round pick I would do that trade every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
  15. As an arm chair GM I say do it. Both are damaged to some extent. I watched allot of Johnson and thought he was the better of the two (jack). For JVR, no problem (and I am not a JVR hater at all, so that says allot).
  16. He still shanks that and fires it wide. He executed- like he should. My ONLY point is that he is a supporting player, not a lead player. He did EXCELLENT in his role as a supporting player. Every team needs those, because it is what makes them dangerous. Subtract Kopitar and Browns play, and Carter / Richards were again on Sunset blvd drinking whatever in May.
  17. I have not a clue on dropping. The guy that I was tracking and who's stock has risen to high is Reinhart. Same attributes at Ceci, but better. There is a nice kid from Sweden- Lindholm that would be the guy I would take at our position (he is actually slated to go later, but I would take him). The other kid I like is Thrower. At the end of the day, I would trade our 3rd round, a prospect and our current #1 to move up and pick Reinhart. He is going to be the next Weber. Mark my words. @jammer2 and @Podein25 Would have a much more keen input than I on these things. What say you fellows: would you move up for Reinhart??
  18. I'll give you the rain in trade from a bit of cold. Fair??
  19. Good point. I guess what is the priority? A goalie that will potentially reap benefits in 2-5 years, or a d-man that will potentially reap benefits in 1-3 years?
  20. Actually he is currently signed through the end of next year, upon which he becomes a UFA. He will be 34 when his current contract is up. I don't see him getting "monster" bucks at the end of his current contract. 4-5m for 3 years. Certainly affordable and reasonable.
  21. I totally agree. So, IF you are Nashville, why make that trade when he will be the anchor for the long haul? Why can't they spend the next couple of years fixing their front lines? Just using your logic. :-)
  22. Well, LA was hard up for scoring as well and looked at what happened. I sort of get your point. But I would strongly disagree that Nashville becomes more balanced (but would agree we become more balanced, despite a nut case in goal). Losing an elite defensemen like Weber is not replaced- despite getting offensive assets. Its not like that proposed trade is going to propel Nashville into the offensive stratosphere of Pitts- Flyers. Suter is Webers wing man if you get my drift. If you remove Weber, I think Suter is Carle heavy (vs. lite) or Timmonen v 2.0. Would you do the trade as proposed from both a Flyer and Nashville perspective??
  23. I forgot!! Thanks for reminding me? How is the weather down there?? It has been pouring like cats and dogs here for DAYS!!
  24. Not a cap miracle. If you send JVR that way, there is 4.1m and don't resign Jagr (as Ryan instantly plays with Giroux). Your RW are then Ryan, Voracek, Simmonds. In that order. Sadly, JVR will not get that deal done. I guess my question would be why would Anaheim give away a 30g scorer for another forward? Their offense is not great (but much better than LA's), but their defense is the same as ours. Fortunately, we had the second most potent offense in the league- Anaheim was 17th.
