  1. its all good. I like Mike as a person, leader and a player. I just think it is a Leclair-esque signing. Both players have the same attributes (ie. good person, leader and player). But both are similar in their time being up. Neither are a recchi / chelios type of player. The money is fine and even if waived, will not have an adverse impact on our cap. What will matter is that if he is waived and goes plays for the Phantoms, he takes up a contract spot. I will be rooting for him to succeed because I always liked him and thought he was an upstanding guy. On the business / team side of things, I just do not get it. I would have just of signed Jagr again (still a bitter taste in my mouth after that). On the a bit over-analytical part, just expressing my POV. Nothing more, nothing less. It is a discussion board after all. Cheers
  2. Right now, Bobs is (he has stopped 9 out of 10) in three games played.
  3. Somebody else will go first. When you are 24th in the league on the PP and 25th in the league on the PK- heads will roll. There are four things drastically noticeable thus far: 1) Should have paid Jagr the money. 2) Briere's absence. 3) Carle's absence. 4) The lack of a proper training camp / youngsters being pushed into roles they may not be ready for. As a gm / owner, I would fire a coach for two three reasons only: 1) Team is unprepared. 2) Coach does not adapt to the skill of players he is given. 3) Team has tuned the coach out. I think the team (players) really likes Lavy. He is stern, but supportive and smart. While his run and gun might not be the proper use because of the d (I am on the fence about it), I don't blame him for this. The PK and PP need to get corrected quickly.
  4. And this is what I am upset about. If I remember correctly, a team has to request a review (ie. send in the tape / disc). This means Lou and company sent this to the league. If not, it is utter bs for the league to review a play on its own. If they are going to do that, then they should start changing game scores based on the blown disallowed goals.
  5. They are not just vets, they are part of the leadership group. I am not poo - pooing Knuble as a leader, but I just don't see the need for that attribute alone. 8 weeks max of no hartnell sucks for sure, but it is not like he is not going to be around and vocal. What about Talbot?? My point was that there is plenty of veteran leadership on the team and that is not a need that we need to fill.
  6. John Moore was the #1 from the Flyers, not Kyle Palmieri. That trade turns out to be: 1) Sbisa 2) Moore 3) Beuchimen 4) Etem for 1) Pronger 2) Gardiner 3) Dingle Anyone have info on the picks and secondary players (gardiner and dingle)?
  7. I am of the opinion that if Perry goes down the road of UFA, he is done in Cali. Anaheim has cap room to burn for him. To me, it would not be a money issue for him, but more a different opportunity / team. I see him getting traded at the deadline to "see the grass on the other side". No way Anaheim can let him walk for nothing. Don't look for that trade to be occurring with Philly. We do not have the cap room (we are 800k under the max).
  8. I have looked for the clip over 100 times. The greatest thing I ever witnessed with Lindros was against the pens at the Igloo in the playoffs. The flyers were winning 2-1 in the third. They were on the PP and lindros literally controlled the puck for almost 40 seconds. He had two d-men draped over him in the corner and behind the net. At one point, the one d-man slashed lindros stick out of his hands. Lindros strong arms both the d-man, while controlling the puck with his skates- picks up his stick and sends a one handed pass to Leclair in the slot unmarked. The pens goalie made the save, but to watch Lindros single handedly control the play for that amount of time was astonishing. The pitts announcers were gushing over how incredible it was.
  9. We sorely lack how? Timmo, Briere, Hartnell seems vet enough for me.
  10. A 1-2 Wings team no less. I think this is a waste. I hate the way we always retread. Does Arnott play wing?? I thought he was a center.
  11. That and quick is showing he is mortal. It will be interesting to see how the goalie situation plays out in LA. Bernier is not getting any younger.
  12. .... gone past. Lindros was the most complete hockey player I ever saw. A dick, for sure, an asshole for sure. He made Messier look like an angel. Wayne, the best. Lemieux second best. Of course we can not forget about Orr or Howe. But, this man- in his prime was the nastiest, most talented hockey player I ever saw.
  13. utterly bs call. Did lou really send the tape to the league?? Kronwall does 10x as worse and never gets suspended. Utter BS.
  14. Ben who? Enforcer? Actually, liked the guy as a third line mucker that could fight a bit (not a heavy weight in the Peron or Brashear sense).
  15. Completely inaccurate. This style goes all the way back to Hitchcock. Perhaps it is us as fans putting the team under the microscope (ie. Pen, Rangers, Devils fans biotch about the same thing about coming out flat). That said, the not playing to 60 minutes and / or coming out flat has been going on a long time (hitch / stevens / lavi). Don't put this on the coach.
  16. Defense first. Also, I would disagree anyone except Giroux for Benn. I like Benn, but I am not giving any of our centers to get him (including Schenn). Other than D and G, centers are the next highest commodity in the NHL. It is probably the hardest position to play because you have to play 200 feet (not just 120 like the other positions). Also, I am not sure what the problem is with him not wanting to sign with Dallas (ie sitting out), but I don't want a 23 year prima-dona.
  17. I totally agree- the whole watching his father die in a car crash and him losing his hearing in one ear because of the same crash pulls on my heart strings. He played very well for the Avs last year when he was traded (under control, an asset and contributor- all while playing third line). He is second line RW material if he could ever stay under control.
  18. Bummer. The Avs really had Steve playing very well (and under control). This guys career has certainly been a bit snake bit. This bite is the hardest. Never the fleetest of foot, an ACL can cause you to lose a step or two. http://www.nhl.com/ice/blogpost.htm?id=13245&navid=nhl:topheads
  19. Thats a good point (particularly about playoff hopes as the Ducks are off to a good start). Another option would be traded at deadline and re-signed by ducks in off-season. Thats a win-win for the ducks.
  20. Hate to say it, but we hurt without Briere in our line-up.
  21. I am not sure how to take that coming from a K9 fully attired in a police uniform. Just make sure you clean up your poop!
  22. I agree. Also, I remember one off-season Mcgillis talking about a skating instructor that really helped him develop a bit quicker foot speed (not blazing mind you- but an improvement). Also that foster guy that broke his femur in three places went to a PT specialist in Seattle that taught him how to get all the proper balance out of his legs / back / posture and that has supposedly greatly improved his deficiency in skating since he broke his femur. Somebody needs to give Luke some business cards.
