  1. Agreed. Most of us were talking about a right handed shot in the offensive zone (power play & such). I'm not sure any of us were even thinking about the breakout to get out of the defensive zone.
  2. Only started following in '85? You've got at least another 10 years of "dues" to pay!! Hope you can handle that.
  3. Maybe so. My post was all speculation anyways.
  4. A team that needs to reach the cap floor might pick him up just to carry the cap hit. That seems a little far fetched but they were talking about it on NHL Tonight. I could see something like this happening... Tim Thomas: I'm not happy here anymore. Trade me. Peter Chiarelli: No, I'm not trading you Tim Thomas: OK, well I'm not playing next year. Have fun managing the cap hit.
  5. Thomas would not pass through waivers. Someone would snag him on the way down. I think this is his way of telling them he wants to be traded.
  6. The flag comes out at the 1:40 mark.
  7. Once they wrapped the flag around themselves, they were kind of isolated. I thought a few of their teammates looking for others to celebrate with kind of looked at them and decided to not go celebrate with them. It was kind of weird.
  8. He played 22 games this year. I'm not sure if he was injured or a health scratch for the other games. I got to see him play a few games when they came to SATX. He did not stand out at all when he was on the ice, in fact, I didn't even notice when he was out there. It always makes you wonder what happens to these players that show so much potential and never live up to it.
  9. Kabanov and Zlobin. The flag was on the ice almost immediately.
  10. That whole tournament was awesome topped off with an incredible championship game! The crowd was into the game from the start. Great to see that kind of support. Those kids will never have to pay for a beer in Shawinigin. There were only two things I didn't care for. Those damn air horns need to be outlawed. Extremely annoying! The 2nd thing was the 2 russian kids off celebrating by themselves wrapped up in the russian flag. I'm all for being patriotic, but that seemed out of place.
  11. @doom88, My comment was a quote from a cement head (Tie Domi maybe?) to one of the Flyers captains from about 10 yrs ago. I see where you're going. Why is Smith on the list? I remember he had some shoulder injury issues, but they didn't stop him from playing.
  12. I thought the "C" stood for selfish?!?
  13. I think they are pretty much the same. That was not a high stick if you are referring to Youtube clip of Grandlund's goal.
  14. Apparently not. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=396872
  15. Part 2 For some reason, I can only post a link.
  16. Funny how most of us haven't had any interaction with him in almost a year and people STILL want to punch him in the face!
  17. I won't get to see tonight's game until tomorrow afternoon. The DVR is already set. Too bad the Flyers traded Michael Chaput. He looks like he is going to be a good one.
  18. I honestly thought you were someone else with a new screen name. There was someone posting "doom & gloom" in a bunch of threads over on Philly.com and then you showed up (Rochflyer maybe?). I thought you were going to be an arse. I'm glad I was wrong. I will echo your thanks to Digity for creating the site and Jim and HF for keeping the natives in check. It sure is nice to just talk hockey. EDIT: Forgot to mention Radoran. Sorry buddy.
  19. I don't get to see many junior games so I am happy the NHL network is broadcasting them. Tonight's game should be a barn burner!!
  20. Wasn't Hartley's name being tossed around for the vacant Montreal spot. I seem to remember hearing/reading that.
  21. You're entitled to your opinion. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
  22. The NHL uses touch screen computers to keep stats. The AHL uses older technology..stubby pencils and tablet paper. It would be nice if the AHL could catch up, but unfortunately it isn't in the budget. We don't even have overhead goal cameras. I would love to see him play. But right now, all I have to judge him on are those stats and I'm not impressed. Maybe he plays better than the picture his stats paint. I will give him the benifit of the doubt. He did play the year in the AHL and wasn't sent down so he must have at least held his own.
  23. Totally agree that stats aren't everything. I think it is important that you compare stats from guys that played on the same team because they use the same systems, play against the same opponnents, etc. GrossmanN didn't play with Adirondack so I wouldn't use him to compare against. Compare Kessel's stats to Gustufsson's AHL stats. In half the games, Gus had almost identical stats. It's reasonable to assume that if Gus had played the same number of games as Kessel, he would have doubled his stats, no? Bourdon had 3 times as many PIMs in 1/3 the number of AHL games. Manning played 10 AHL games less than Kessel. He scored 5 goals more than Kessel and had 8 times as many PIMs. The 3 guys I mentioned got called up and Kessel didn't. @Vanflyer Blocked shots, hits, giveaways / takeaways, and time on ice stats are not available for AHL players. Not all AHL teams keep track of those (+/- is available, Kessel was minus -1). Adirondack doesn't come down to SATX to play so I didn't see him play. I couldn't tell you how he looks in break outs or passing. Just looking at the stats that are available, I'm not impressed.
  24. Prior to 1977 only players who had completed the Stanley Cup playoffs were eligible to have their name inscribed on the Stanley Cup.[48] Currently, a player must have played at least 41 games for the championship team during the regular season (provided the player remains with the team when they win the Cup) or played in at least one game of the Stanley Cup Finals. However, since 1994 teams have been permitted to petition the NHL Commissioner, to be considered on a case-by-case basis, to engrave a player's name on the cup if the player was unavailable to play due to "extenuating circumstances".[49] For example, The Detroit Red Wings received special permission from the NHL to inscribe the name of Vladimir Konstantinov, whose career ended after a car accident on June 13, 1997, on the Stanley Cup after Detroit defended their title in 1998.
  25. Are you kidding me? You can't look at those stats and tell he didn't deserve to be called up?
