  1. I thought the CBA said teams couldn't bury the contract in the AHL. If he leaves the AHL and goes to Sweden, then what?
  2. I'm kind of pi$$ed about it!! The Pens-Flyers game is NBC's headliner game and I won't get to see them, at least on the TV. I get a regional coverage game...Blackhawks-Kings. How is that regional?!? I'm 1200 miles from Chicago and 1300 miles from LA!! It's only 400 miles more to Philly (1700). NBC has exclusive rights to the games that are broadcast on their network. Any game that is on NBC is NOT on NHL Center Ice. Effen NBC!!?!
  3. @jammer2, I'm glad the Flyers are giving him a look. I think the new rule is he can play 5 games before being sent back to Junior without burning a year on his contract. That isn't a very long audition. Obviously, if he plays well he will stay. If Homerr sends him back to Junior, who fills his roster spot??
  4. If the rumor about Lilja is true, and he does go back to Sweden to play, does his cap hit go with him??
  5. I don't believe there is any distinction between skaters and goalies, as far as the rule goes. Myre's situation happened before 1977 so he would have had to dress for a game to get his name on the cup. He didn't. Rogie Vachon was the back up. Myre isn't the only player from that team to not get his name on the cup. Serge Savard played 37 regular season games, but missing the rest of season injured. Phil Myre played 30 games dressed for 70 games, but was not dressed in the playoffs. Both players were included on the team picture, but not engraved on the cup even though they qualified.
  6. A little more to it... Prior to 1977 only players who had completed the Stanley Cup playoffs were eligible to have their name inscribed on the Stanley Cup. Currently, a player must have played at least 41 games for the championship team during the regular season (provided the player remains with the team when they win the Cup) or played in at least one game of the Stanley Cup Finals. However, since 1994 teams have been permitted to petition theNHL Commissioner, to be considered on a case-by-case basis, to engrave a player's name on the cup if the player was unavailable to play due to "extenuating circumstances". For example, The Detroit Red Wings received special permission from the NHL to inscribe the name ofVladimir Konstantinov, whose career ended after a car accident on June 13, 1997, on the Stanley Cup after Detroit defended their title in 1998
  7. @JackStraw, I'm sure he will be satisfied. I assume he is 2nd in line as the "associate captain". I've never heard of the associate captain before but it sounds like he out ranks Danny & Harts as the alternates.
  8. Timmo would also have been an excellent choice, but G should be around for another 10 years. Timmo will be long since retired.
  9. Leighton would have had to pass through waivers to be sent down to the Phantoms to play during the lockout. Since he wasn't put on waivers, it tells me: 1. Homer didn't want to take a chance on another team grabbing him 2. Homer wanted the young goalies in the system to get the work. 3. Combination of 1 & 2.
  10. Homer said (at the end of the video clip in this link) he picked up Boosh for insurance. Boosh will not take part in training camp with the Flyers and will go to the Phantoms. http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-philadelphia-flyers/flyers-talk/Flyers-acquire-Brian-Boucher-from-Hurric?blockID=822987&feedID=695
  11. It doesn't seem like the Philly locals are even considering it. http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-philadelphia-flyers/flyers-talk/What-boycott-Flyers-fans-flock-to-camp?blockID=823025&feedID=695 I also read that the Habs practice was packed with fans. "A packed house at the Canadiens practice facility took in the team's first skate under Michel Therrien."
  12. Nothing in 4 days? C'mon Man!! I'm going with Warren Skorodenski.
  13. @jammer2, I agree with most of what you're saying, but I'm not sure how this would work out. If Luongo is bought out, he is a free agent and can go anywhere he wants. There is no gaurantee he goes to the Flyers. And how to afford him if he is traded (instead of buy out). Bryz gets bought out and the Flyers only save $300K. If I'm not mistaken, the cap goes down next year and the buy outs were agreed to so teams could lose some salary to get cap compliant. I don't see how this move helps (much). The Flyers would still need to dump significant salary.
  14. The site I'm looking at is missing 3 games in the 87-88 season.
  15. He did play 32 NHL games over parts of 4 seasons. Oh yeah, and 2 playoff games.
  16. The internet. Is that the thing that Al Gore invented?
  17. Yes! The Oilers were still a WHA team when he wore this mask. His 2nd NHL team was none other than the Flyers!
  18. Hint #3: This mask was used when he played with the Edmonton Oilers.
  19. Hint #2: One of the NHL teams was the Red Wings.
  20. It seems like people are losing interest in this game. Guesses are now few and far between. Here is a hint: This goalie played for 2 NHL teams but this mask was used in his WHA days.
  21. @hf101, Maybe those banners are in an area that is out of the picture, like on the other side of the scoreboard. Back to the retired numbers: I like the original banners. The new ones show 4 of the 5 players standing around or leaning on the boards. The only one in game action is Howe. Bring back the old banners!!
  22. When did they change the retired numbers banners in the Wells Fargo Center? 1st picture: This is what the banners looked like in the Spectrum. I assume they are in order of when they were retired. 2nd picture: This is what they look like in the Wells Fargo Center when Mark Howe's number was retired: 3rd picture: And now the banners have been changed to this: EDIT: the pictures didn't post in the positions I wanted them to but they are in order.
