  1. I think that was the only call they got right. The other calls were horse sh1t including the slash on Simmonds. The stick didn't break, he only had one hand on it.
  2. The Flyers would have to get rid of $7MM in salary before they could trade for JBow. That isn't happening.
  3. Probably because they don't over pay and give NMC/NTC clauses to their players.
  4. Not saying I disagree. I just don't think he'll be anything more than a backup.
  5. It was an injury to Anderson that got him traded to Ottawa. He's a streaky goalie. I don't think Ottawa would have him on the trading block if he was more than that.
  6. Every time I hear this rumor, I can't help but think about this conversation. Bishop was playing for Peoria in the AHL (Blues affiliate) 3 yrs ago (09-10) when the Blues had Chris Mason & Ty Conklin as their goalie tandem. I was talking to his team mateTyson Strachan and I said something to the effect of "Bishop is huge! How does anybody get the puck by him?". Strachan's response was "There's a reason why he's in the AHL". Very telling for a team mate to say that.
  7. Agreed that it is a crap goal. The thread title should be "Brodeur credited his 3rd career goal!" Correct. Carolina took a shot and Marty made a save. He was the last Devil to touch the puck. Only one of Marty's three goals was actually shot into the net by Marty. In my eyes, Hextall is still one goal up on Marty.
  8. Great quote from EDI-Flyer in the shout box..."The problem is where his shoulder comes into contact with the head, whilst it is legal you gotta know that you have the potential to cause serious damage to someone elses brain..." And that's the part that I don't like. Kronwall injures more players with this exact hit than anyone else uses the hit. It is a physical game...I get that. And I want to keep that. But I can't help but think that this hit is a deliberate attempt to injure. Not saying it hasn't happened before, but Coyle is the first guy I can remember getting up off the ice without a concussion after this hit.
  9. Congrats, Kimmo!! http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-philadelphia-flyers/his-38th-birthday-timonen-set-play-1000th-game On his 38th birthday, Timonen set to play 1,000th game VOORHEES, N.J. – Tonight in Tampa, defenseman Kimmo Timonen will become the 282nd NHL player to play in 1,000 games. But on Sunday afternoon, after the Flyers held a rather lengthy, high-intensity practice at Skate Zone, Timonen declined to discuss the milestone. He didn’t want to jinx it, he said. “That’s Kimmo,” said longtime defensive partner Braydon Coburn. “He shoots from the hip. He’s a really honest guy. It’s a great accomplishment. He’s been a great player in this league ever since he got here. He’s not the fastest guy. He’s not the biggest guy. He’s a tough little Finn. He’s been a smart player to be in the league that long.” Timonen has played 426 games as a Flyer. Previously, he played 573 games with the Nashville Predators, with whom his career began in 1998. He’s been through a lot since then -- from reaching the Stanley Cup Finals to playing on four All-Star teams to compiling an Iron Man streak of 248 consecutive games -- but he hasn’t changed much at all, according to his teammates. “Always the same guy,” said Scott Hartnell, who came to the Flyers from Nashville along with Timonen in 2007. “He always likes to laugh, but when push comes to shove, he’s a serious guy and he wants to win. We were just talking about it earlier, everything that comes out of his mouth is almost a joke and funny, but if he’s serious, you know that he’s talking serious, too. He’s a great guy to have around the rink and a great friend for 12, 13 years for me.” Coach Peter Laviolette, who called Timonen’s 1,000-game achievement “amazing,” knew of the defenseman before he began coaching him in 2009. But, he said, it was only after Laviolette joined the Flyers that he began to truly appreciate the stocky, rather short (he’s listed as 5-foot-10) defenseman. “His dependability, his reliability on the ice,” Laviolette said. “He was in the Western Conference [before coming to Flyers] and you don’t get a chance to see a player quite as much or play against them quite as much. When you actually get to work together with a player on a day-to-day basis and see what kind of person they are in the locker room off the ice, what kind of character they have, and what kind of play they bring to the ice. He’s had an unbelievable career.” Coincidentally, Timonen has one other reason to celebrate March 18: It’s his 38th birthday. And tonight, he will become just the sixth player from Finland to join the 1,000-game club, joining a short list that includes Teppo Numminen, Teemu Selanne, Jari Kurri, Olli Jokinen and Saku Koivu. “It’s pretty huge, I think,” Hartnell said, “for his family, for his country, things like that. It’s pretty cool that I played 850 some games with him. To be a part of that is pretty cool, too.”
  10. Not to split hairs, but Blake was actually born in Plantation, Florida (and raised in Tennessee). And just for a little added pressure, his great grandfather was Howie Morenz.
  11. Florida Panthers minor leaguer Scott Timmins was arrested for Breaking & Entering. He apparently was hammered and entered the wrong house. He was about a mile from his house. http://www.kens5.com/news/I-wouldve-put-a-bullet-between-your-eyes-SA-father-says-Rampage-hockey-player-broke-in-home-197171411.html http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/article/Cops-Rampage-player-stumbled-into-wrong-home-4347980.php
  12. St Louis, Anaheim, Dallas, Carolina, Nashville, and Ottawa all say hello!! Phoenix and Nashville are bubble teams right now but the other teams have lots of cap space and are firmly entrenched in a playoff position.
  13. I disagree. There are teams struggling to get to the cap floor that need his cap hit. Actuall dollars is $3mm next year and $2mm in 2015-16. Whether the Flyers can get something good in return is another story.
  14. @jammer2, Perhaps it's time for a hint.
  15. He has been ruled eligible. http://www.phantomshockey.com/pages/news/articles/20130308.asp Zolnierczyk Returned to Phantoms March 8, 2013 The Phantoms have announced that left-wing Harry Zolinerczyk (Zoln-uhr-check) has been returned to Adirondack by the Philadelphia Flyers, according to general manager Paul Holmgren. Zolnierczyk, 25, played in six games with the Flyers from February 12 through March 2 scoring zero goals and one assist. He received a four-game suspension from the NHL for charging Mike Lundin of the Ottawa Senators in a game on March 2, 2013. He has currently served two games of that suspension. Per AHL by-laws, any player under suspension to another league is ineligible to play in the AHL pending review by the league President. Zolnierczyk has now been ruled eligible by the AHL effective today. He would have to sit out the remaining two games of his suspension on any subsequent call-up to the NHL. "Harry Z" has been tabbed as an alternate captain with the Phantoms this season and has 9 goals and 8 assists in 46 games this year. Zolnierczyk's most recent game with Adirondack was February 10 vs. Syracuse. He scored 3 goals and 3 assists in 37 games with the Flyers last season including a highlight-reel caliber goal on October 18, 2011 against Ottawa in his NHL debut. He also played in 39 games with Adirondack last year scoring 8 goals and 13 assists. The Toronto native and former Ivy League Player of the Year out of Brown University signed with the Flyers organization as a free agent in March, 2011. Zolinierczyk is one of nine players from this year's Adirondack Phantoms roster to be called up and played for the Philadelphia Flyers this season along with Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier, Zac Rinaldo, Tye McGinn, Eric Wellwood, Andreas Lilja, Brian Boucher and Erik Gustafsson. The Adirondack Phantoms are back in action this weekend with home games on Friday and Saturday against the Springfield Falcons and Connecticut Whale. Saturday night is Phantoms T-Shirt Night for the first 2,500 fans in attendance.
  16. @jammer2, Correct, he has to serve the suspension in the NHL. When Jesse Boulerice received the 25 game suspension, the Flyers played the "saving money" game with him. He was called up on Flyers game days and sent down on non-game days. During this time, he was not playing in the AHL.
  17. He may not be eligible to play in the AHL until his suspension is over. Here is an example of what I'm talking about. http://kuklaskorner.com/hockey/comments/brendan_smith_suspended_for_12_day_by_the_ahl
  18. He was putting his mouthpiece IN his mouth. He had it in his glove, put it in his mouth, then gave the face wash.
  19. He was moving his hands and feet right at the end of the clip around the :43 second mark. News articles said the injury happened at the 4th thoracic vertebrae. If there is anything positive to take away from this at least he will have the use of his arms & hands. Very unfortunate.
  20. The video quality is not that great, but Holy Schnike!! He was still out and couldn't keep his feet under himself when they were dragging him off the ice. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Dave+Dziurzynski+fight+frazer+mclaren&oq=Dave+Dziurzynski+fight+frazer+mclaren&gs_l=youtube.3...3691.17378.0.17994.22.22.0.0.0.0.95.1281.22.22.0...0.0...1ac.1.OBXCoYKej9Y
  21. Harry Z got 4 games because the other guy was injured. Kaleta only got 1 game more than his previous suspension because Richards returned to the game.
  22. There's a simple explanation. Nobody was going to the Phoenix games back then, not even the refs!
  23. I agree with you guys. I think the suspension is consistent with Kaleta's history. The crosscheck itself was not at all vicious. Another few feet away from the boards and it might not have drawn a 2 min penalty.
