Bourdon to the LTIR Flyers chairman Ed Snider said Friday afternoon that defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon (post-concussion syndrome) will start the year on the long-term injured reserve along with Chris Pronger. Bourdon (post-concussion syndrome) did not skate and sources say he may not skate at all in training camp. General manager Paul Holmgren said earlier Friday the defenseman is day to day. It's entirely possible that Bourdon is experiencing the same anxiety that Andrej Meszaros experienced last season about being on the ice and potentially getting injured again.

Even if it means the Flyers will lose ~6 places in the draft? :wacko:

Mez hasn't been cleared yet and I haven't seen where GrossmanN has been cleared either. If either one of them can't start the season, then Gill could be (just as hf101 mentioned) the insurance policy.

Is Staal healthy enough to play? I know the Olympics are a little ways off yet, but if he isn't healthy enough to start the season I don't see Team Canada wasting a roster spot on him.

"The decision to participate in the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi was in many ways a difficult one, but one that we know will be well received by our Players and, most importantly, by the vast majority of our fans and sports fans everywhere." NHLPA Executive Director Don Fehr added: "The players are very pleased that an agreement has been reached that will allow the world's best hockey players to compete at the Winter Games in February," said Fehr. "Having the opportunity to wear their nation's sweater in Sochi is something the players look forward to." This marks the fifth consecutive time dating back to Nagano 1998 that NHL players have participated in the Olympics. More than 120 NHL players are expected to compete for their respective nations in Sochi. "Although there were many details to discuss with our partners NHL and NHLPA, there was never any doubt in my mind that we would not continue the tradition from Nagano, Salt Lake City, Turin and Vancouver," said IIHF President and IOC Executive Committee Member Rene Fasel. So what happens with Chris Pryor? He was the Director of Hockey Operations. Does he move on to another team or just move into another position with the Flyers?

Very good article. Blake sounds like a great kid with his head screwed on right (no pun intended). I hope he can resume a normal life after this horrific injury.

I like this move. If Hexy takes the reigns as the Phantoms GM maybe he can groom the young guys similar to what he did with the Monarchs. The Kings were able to call up some very key players that helped them in their cup run.

Alright, I'll play. I googled it and didn't find anything that said the cap would exceed $70m next year. I only found one article that had projected cap figures but even that one doesn't project $70m until 2017 (that article was written before last season). Please post a link when you get to a computer. EDIT: I found the SNYRangers article you are talking about. That projection is for AFTER next season...2014-15. Next season's cap will be set based on the last season's revenue of $2.4 billion.
