  1. Blood pressure meds all around!
  2. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=676591&navid=DL|NHL|home Schedule the parade!!! Sorry, can't paste the article. Depth signing.
  3. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426936 FLYERS AND GIROUX CLOSE TO EIGHT-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION The Philadelphia Flyers are close to agreeing with captain Claude Giroux on an eight-year contract extension worth over $8 million a season, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun. Giroux, 25, has one year left on his current deal which pays him $5 million with a $3.75 million cap hit. He is set to become a restricted free agent after next season. In 48 games with the Flyers last season, Giroux scored 13 goals and tallied 48 points. He scored a career-high 28 goals and 93 points in the 2011-12 season and has 91 goals and 291 points in 333 career NHL games - all with the Flyers. More to follow.
  4. Bob McKenzie is saying it is a 5 player deal. This will be interesting...
  5. @hf101, I'm too lazy to do it but you may be able to figure it out at this site: http://www.goaliesarchive.com/flyers/
  6. Apparently, someone at the NHL Network is a member here. On NHL Tonight show, they just went through the Flyers Goalies from '97-'98. They said there were 21 during that time and guessed 18 of them.
  7. @Podein25, Spot on, Sheep Man! I got to see him a lot in the AHL. Beautiful skater with some offensive skill, but not really superstar talent. Soft on the physical play and rarely goes into the high traffic area in front of the net. His play along the boards was OK, but again, nothing to really separate him from other players. He would probably benefit from a change of scenery.
  8. @pilldoc @Mad Dog @ruxpin My comment was referencing the reaction of the posters on here...NOT the contract of either player.
  9. I seem to remember the same kind of reaction when Jagr was signed. I'm sitting here laughing out loud at all the "sky is falling" posts!!
  10. I don't *completely* understand it either. Yes, Flyers need defense. Yes, Flyers need a 2nd goalie. This guy is the highest rated UFA this year and the Flyers signed him! When was the last time that happened? For all the grief that Homer gets on this board, he is a well respected and shrewd GM. He will pull something off to have this team right back in contention for the cup.
  11. Reports are Vinnie left money on the table to sign with the Flyers.
  12. @jammer2, Never pictured you as a "glass is half empty" kind of guy. I'm thinking the 3rd & 4th line centers just got way better! LOL I want to see what happens next. Homer said it himself a few days ago...It's going to be a wild ride for the next 2 weeks or so.
  13. I'm not ready to pass judgment on this yet. Obviously, there is a trade coming. Although I like Mez's game when he is healthy, I don't think we'll see that. If Homer can trade Mez for a prospect then I'll feel better about this signing.
  14. That make sense now. i was confused because the author says A-Mart but talks Scuderi.
  15. Montoya played in San Antonio before he was traded to the Islanders organization. I got to see him on a regular basis down here. He was thoroughly un-impressive. Mediocre in the AHL. He had the perfect storm in the islanders system, multiple goalie injuries and he got called up and forced into the starting role. 21 games and he hasn't really done anything since. If I was Homer, I would stay clear of this guy.
  16. 165lb Goon. What is this league coming to?
  17. I'm bored already. When does training camp start?
  18. @Howie58, If you're talking about the Bryz buy out presser, it is on the Flyers website. I watched it tonight. I got the impression that Homer wants Mason to be the #1 goalie and he will try to bring in a backup.
  19. If you aren't cheating...you aren't trying! It's amazing how skinny most of them are without the equipment on (including the skaters)!
  20. Luongo has a full NTC that he would need to waive to come to Philly if traded. A buyout is a different story...he can sign where ever he wants. I remember hearing rumors that his wife wants to go back to Florida (where she's from). I guess we'll see soon enough...
  21. Letang won't be bought out. He has huge trade value and has only 1 yr left on his current contract. His agent and Ray Shero have been talking. He'll either be resigned or a trade deadline deal. I'll be surprised if Souray is bought out. He is a steady Dman and has a reasonable cap hit at $3.6mil. The Ducks are about $12mil under the cap with 19 players under contract.
