  1. @Vincent05, I really don't think Yandle was on the table. If he was, Phoenix would have wanted more than just JVR. At the time, JVR was not playing as well as he is now. When I look at Schenn's stats from his time in Toronto, he looks now like he is on par with those totals. Assists are lacking a little but everything else looks on par. Schenn was highly touted as a big, physical defensive defenseman when he was a Leaf. I think he is the same caliber player that he was in Toronto. I think the Flyers got exactly what they were looking for in Schenn. Flyers fans want him to be someone else.
  2. @Vincent05, I've argued this before and don't care to do it again. You can read it for yourself here: http://www.hockeyforums.net/index.php/topic/52463-bummed-on-yandle/?hl=yandle At the time of the JVR-Schenn trade, the NEED was a defensive defenseman, not a puck mover. It was expected that Carle would be resigned.
  3. If my memory serves me, at the time of the trade the Flyers need a defensive defenseman. Yandle didn't fit the bill. And still doesn't. I don't see why everyone is so in love with Yandle. Everyone hated Carle and Yandle is the same type of player.
  4. 5th place? Not sure where you're seeing that but it's wrong (unless the NHL has it wrong on their own website). Flyers are in 7th place in the Eastern Conference and 2nd place in the Metro Division. http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?season=20132014&type=CON
  5. I watched the Eagles and didn't change channels. Kind of disappointed but I really didn't expect them to win. I don't know why, just didn't have a good feeling about the game.
  6. @flyercanuck, Stolarz only played the last game and won 8 - 0 vs Germany. I didn't get to see the whole game, maybe half. I don't remember any spectacular saves but that is because he wasn't challenged. I know this isn't much information. Sorry.
  7. Team USA has two 19 yr old guys that are playing in the AHL. How are they eligible to play in the AHL? I thought they had to go back to their junior teams if they were not playing in the NHL. Stefan Matteau - Albany Devils - Released by Blainville-Boisbriand (QMJHL). Conner Carrick - Hershey Bears - Played last year with Plymouth (OHL).
  8. In the comments section on the TSN article, I found this one frome some guy named dupster1972... "That was the best bodycheck Sid has thrown in years."
  9. Agreed. He has been the #1 and GrossmanN is #2.
  10. @mojo1917, You beat me to it. That line is on fire since Raffl joined them. Sending him down now would be a crime!! http://thehockeywriters.com/michael-raffl-key-girouxs-resurgence/?utm_source=buffer&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Buffer&utm_content=buffer9b453 "Since Scott Hartnell was demoted from the first line and replaced with Michael Raffl, Giroux and Voracek have caught fire. The new line was formed after the Flyers were embarrassed by the Chicago Blackhawks. In Giroux’s first 31 games of the season, he had six multi-point games. In the four games the Raffl-Giroux-Voracek line has been intact, he already has three. Giroux has 9 points in those 4 games, and Voracek has 8. Before the line was formed, you have to go back 11 games for Giroux, and 15 games for Voracek to match those totals."
  11. I honestly don't think they played all that bad in the 2nd. The difference was the goaltending. Mason was having an off night while the Columbus goalie was making some very good, if not great saves. The Flyers definitely controlled the 1st & 3rd periods.
  12. No suspension for Wilson. (sorry, can't post the link to the video)
  13. Behold Randy!! Wilson has a phone hearing. Maximum of 5 games. I think he will only get 2 games. This is Wilson's first offense and Schenn does not have a concussion.
  14. The rule is still in effect. Rule 46.6 (sorry, can't copy & paste for some reason.)
  15. @pilldoc, They probably need to consult with lawyers. Just a guess.
  16. @yave1964, In his presser, Burke said the coaching staff is safe and he is happy with the job they are doing. He said he even promised them they would finish the year no matter what the new GM wants to do.
  17. Homer games? I don't have a dog in the fight! Agree to disagree on this. We're getting nowhere.
  18. I'm not defending Thornton or his actions nor am I feeling any compassion for him. I'll give you the premeditation vs reaction to opportunity. Thornton had a long time to think about getting after Orpik. But I still think the Neal knee was way more dirty and dangerous. Clean players wouldn't have even thought about it let alone react to the opportunity. Would Bobby Ryan, Henrik Zetterberg, or Nathan Horton taken that opportunity? Hell no! I would even go as far as saying Matt Cooke (of the last 2 years) wouldn't have done that. Neal could have ended Marchand's career with that knee.
  19. You can't be serious?!? Did you see Marchand's head snap when he got hit? Neal got suspended because of his action. Thornton will be suspended because of the outcome. If Orpik doesn't get knocked out, Thornton doesn't get suspended.
  20. No. I think it is a classic example of the league disciplining the outcome and not the action. Let me ask you this. If Orpik was not knocked out, would Thornton's actions be suspendable?
  21. @ruxpin, Completely agree with this. I think this is one of the dirtiest, intent to injure plays I have ever seen. And then he lied about it. The next time they play, I expect Marchand to exact some revenge.
  22. @nossagog, For the hit to fall in the blindside category, it has to be a *pick the head* kind of hit. That didn't happen because Dupuis saw the hit coming and was able to avoid the *pick the head* hit. I didn't mean he didn't get hit at all.
