  1. Good read regarding the Olympics. http://tablet.olivesoftware.com/Olive/Tablet/SanAntonioExpressNews/SharedArticle.aspx?href=SAEN/2014/02/12&id=Ar02902
  2. @yave1964 @jammer2, I like watching the curling, too. Maybe I'm a boring person, but I find it interesting.
  3. I love the winter games! I'll watch anything and everything except for the figure skating. I like to watch all the sports that I don't get to see on a regular basis. And I don't really have a problem with the NHL shutting down for a few weeks. Its not like there isn't any hockey during that time.
  4. So, how exactly do they *fine* an Junior player? I realize they (players) receive some sort of a stipend, but do they recieve enough to pay fines? NOTE: I avoided the word "pay" so as not to consider a Junior player as a professional.
  5. Stubhub, Ticketmaster, and NHL Ticket exchange in that order. You can also find tickets on eBay but I'd be careful buying them from there.
  6. Dallas likes to poke fun at the opponent. I went to the Flyers Game this season and they had the "Unlucky Row". The fans in that row won Flyers underwear. The fans were all holding up their new drawers as they panned the camera down the row. There were all different styles like boxers and briefs. Funniest were the cute girl got granny panties and the big fat guy got a thong! Funny stuff!
  7. I think the Flyers will win 3 and tie one of those. It is extremely hard to type with my fingers crossed.
  8. #8 is still an open face blade. You'll be able to lift your shot. #5 looks like it is way more open. As far as shaving the blade...If the stick is a one piece composite, you can't shave the blade or you'll ruin the stick. Reebok doesn't make wood sticks to my knowledge.
  9. Hartley got a $25K fine out of this, too.
  10. @HenriVirtanen93, Welcome to the forum! I was always told that the square toe is better suited for a defenseman and the round toe for a forward. I don't think that is a hard, fast rule. If you want to be able to elevate the puck, then go with an open face blade like #5. I personally have more control with a blade that has a closed face. I would go with #8 because it is not as open faced as the #5. I can still elevate the puck and don't launch them when I want to keep the puck on the ice. Hope this helps.
  11. @Podein25, If I didn't already have one of your pearls in my signature, this one would definitely find it's way there!!
  12. @flyercanuck, Do you have a recipe for this baconjacket thing? Sounds good!
  13. @ruxpin, In a post game interview, Luongo said if it wasn't his first game back from injury, he would have dropped the mitts. Apparently, Luongo and Ray Emery are not cut from the same cloth!
  14. @pilldoc, They were determined to be the first pair to start throwing punches (first fight). All other fights that happen after the first fight, the fighters get game misconducts. I would love to know what Hartley's real intentions were with that line up. He stated that line was playing well for them and he was rewarding them. I don't have a problem with that.
  15. And if my Aunt had balls, she'd be my Uncle! Too many what if's. I liked the trades when they happened and I like them even more now.
  16. I'm coming in way late on this. I don't necessarily agree with this. There is a week between the end of the roster freeze and the trade deadline. While there might be a few trades happen before the freeze, I think most action will happen in the last couple days before the deadline.
  17. You are correct, I think? Kind of?? Maybe??? Hell, I don't know!! The way I'm reading this, the conference standings don't really matter as much as the Division standings. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/the-explainer-new-nhl-playoff-seeding-format-1.1871216 This is how the teams would be seeded in their new divisions based on last year's performance. Because they'll play out-of -conference games this season, comparisons to last season are fairly inapplicable. This is purely a mock-up to illustrate what could happen in the upcoming campaign, not an exercise of “what-if.” Metropolitan Division 1. Z- Pittsburgh 2. Z - Washington 3. Z - NY Rangers 4. NY Islanders (55 points) 5. Columbus 6. Philadelphia 7. New Jersey 8. Carolina Atlantic Division 1.Z- Montreal 2.Z - Boston 3.Z - Toronto 4.X - Detroit (56 points) 5.X- Ottawa (56 points) 6.Buffalo 7.Tampa Bay 8.Florida Central Division 1.Z - Chicago 2.Z - St. Louis 3.Z -Minnesota 4.X - Winnipeg (51 points, 22 ROW) 5.Dallas 6.Nashville 7.Colorado Pacific Division 1.Z - Anaheim 2.Z - Vancouver 3.Z - Los Angeles 4.X - San Jose (57) 5.Phoenix (51 points, 17 ROW) 6.Edmonton 7.Calgary Key: Z – These teams are the top three seeds in their division, and gain automatic entry into the Stanley Cup playoffs. X – Wild card teams are the teams outside of the top three in their division, chosen because they have with the next highest point totals, regardless of the division. Three seeds can come from one division and five from another. Matchup breakdown: 1.The division leader in each conference with the most points plays the wild card team with the fewest points. 2.The division leader with the second highest amount of points plays the wild card team with the most points 3 & 4 – the second and third seeds in each division face one another in the first round. This is what the first round would’ve looked like had realignment happened a year earlier: Eastern Conference 1.Pittsburgh vs. Ottawa 2.Montreal vs. Detroit 3.Washington vs. NY Rangers 4.Boston vs. Toronto Western Conference 1.Chicago vs. Winnipeg 2.Anaheim v. San Jose 3.St. Louis vs. Minnesota 4.Vancouver vs. Los Angeles
  18. @aziz, Of course you expect a player to develop and become better. That is a given. And I totally agree with your statement about trades being a gamble. Add draft picks to that, too. DISCLAIMER: I'm not defending Homer in any way for this trade. Maybe he didn't see JVR turning into the player he is today. Maybe he thought Schenn would develop into a #1 or 2 D-man. But if he thought that, why would he sign Weber to the huge offer sheet? Let me refine the first part of my previous statement. The Flyers got what they were looking for in Schenn...a physical defensive defenseman. They didn't get the development that was/is expected. At least not yet.
